Gladiators Arena!
Test your metal in the gladiators arena, fame and fortune await the strongest of you!
I am organising the next big event on our small island, hopefully this will grow to a good pastime for all. All I need is strong fighters.
For 50gp you can enter the arena and the winner takes 100% of the winnings, there will be a number of events:
Duel
Melee
Tournament
*More as I think of them,*
Each with its own advantages and disadvantages,
Duel: One on One, grudge match winnings decided between contestants,
Melee: Chuck 'em all in, All v All 50/100gp entry fee, winnings = gpxPeeps
Tournament: 50gp entry, a series of heats, winnings go to FINAL winner.
Rules of combat,
No Spells or potions during combat, failure to comply may result in cancelling of match (no refund given) or certain penalties (paralyse etc).
*Healing is permitted between battles*
No ranged weaponry is allowed, long axes and other two space weapons are allowed,
No contact is allowed before the fight is initiated,
To the death in all battles, no wimps allowed,
Venue: Stone ring at the top of the library,
Time: Whenever,
Organiser:Me (Guingalan)
I hope to see you there, no fee for spectators!

Greetings to all.
So..this competition is strictly for the people of blades...how restricting. Instead of seeing the elegance of flames or ice shoot from one's fingertips methodically, we must watch as a bunch of metal encased gorillas duke it out? Hardly a spectator event..but I may attend, depending on what kind of mood I am in...if I am bored then I will definitely be there.
Best Wishes,

You people do come down on it quite hard, as for magic well its early stages and I wanted to get things running first. And as for the library, if you want to own everything and barr it all up and ban me and whatever then go ahead, I just thought that giving it a fixed arena somewhere close that all people have access to would be nice. I say give it a go, if you dont like it leave, whats the harm in that?
However if you want to be stubborn and own everything it can perfectly take place anywhere else, the ring was just for properness and perhaps if you want to ban all the other rings then some builders may be so kind as to build us another one somewhere, if not then I can see it working perfectly well in open area.
I'm just trying to strengthen the community and give everyone a break from their usual routine aswell as a pastime, but if me trying to be nice and bring something different in offends you then I am sorry,
Guingalan,

Guingalan,
Its not a bad idea.
I think the gladiator arena is a brilliant idea we need more events like this
so you have my vote for the gladiator arena Guingalan

Will you be quiet and show the proper respect!
Before using something that belongs to someone else, it is only the minimum of manners to actually ASK them first! Secondly, if you use it for something they do not wish it used for, how can you have anything to say to that?!
Your show of surprisingly repulsive behaviour only undermines yourself, so don't blame people for telling you who owns the place!

Make your own ring of combat, in a square of chests perhaps, this would stop people leaving the ring by accident, and dead spirits could leave from any side easily as long as there are enough people to let them out and put the chest back. I'm not sure about the no refund on if someone uses magic (or pots), is it the person who used magic (or pots) who gets no refund? And how do you know if someone IS using pots? Someone outside of the ring could be, and you mistakenly think you hear it from the ring, just things to contemplate. And finally, what if there are two people left and they cant kill each other? Do they share the winnings, or do you do a sudden death thing where you cast a spell on one of the contenders then the other and see who lasts longest before someone dies or forfits?
I'm just going to ignore you if you have nothing more to do than flame mishrack,
As for Grishnak you do raise some points and a ring of chest would do fine, and as for your questions I think I can help there:
About the refunds, if someone breaks the rules then they will be penalised and this can come in the form of many things, if however both participants cheat then the fight will be called off and neither get thier money back, if one cheats the cheater will probally be paralysed.
Potions, well we cant rightly know can we, we just have to trust people and it is early stages yet so some rules may be changed, for instance I have thought of introducing a mage class and obviously no magic here would be a bit pathetic. We will just have to see how it all unfolds so I cannot give you a strait answer just yet.
As for not being able to kill each other, this would cause a problem, I suppose another test would have to be brought into place. If and when the graphics for the equiped weapons and clothing exist we could get each to say take off a peice of armour.
All in all it is early stages and what I am suggesting here to a test to see how well it works and to define the rules properly, what was given is just an outline, and of course theese will probally be changed in time.
Your helpful comments have been appreciated and I hope I cleared them up as best as is currently possible.

Perhaps if someone cheats, they should get no refund and the other gladiator should have their money returned and the cheater banned from playing for a few weeks or something like that unless he pays a fine.
I also think that for now you should make some prophit from it so as one day you can buy an arena or something, and you deserve a fee if you are going to be organising it all by yourself, and could pay people to help you out (like moving chests for clouds).
I also agree with you that mages should have a different class, or division.
Hope this all works out, and I might see you at an event or two in the future.

I agree mages should be allowed to participate also. The Tournament of Skills was a sucessful event because both mages and warriors could enter. Perhaps a more suitable location would be the recently constructed "jail" in the skeleton territory.Greetings to all.

I think that we should have a fight, and furthermore I propose that we hold in your house Guingalan, without needing to ask your permission. Since I'm organizing this fight to strengthen the community, I can hold it anywhere I want and disregard the concept of ownership or asking permission from the owner of the premesis and anyone who opposes my idea is just plain mean. If you disagree with my idea, then you are stubborn and it means you do nothing more than flame. If you agree with me or complement my idea, then you have a spine.
Sound familiar?
@Grishnak: Orcs from LONG ago.

That's where I am different Dyluck I could not care less if you wanted to hold a fight in my house (not that I have one) and I would be happy that providing a place for this activity would help strengthen the community.
As for the jail, holding it here would be an idea but of course I want everyone to be able to have access to it and not everyone can comfortably fight skeletons or is willing to walk that far, I have thought on the mages class and have decided not to iniciate one just yet, I have been away recently and so need to get things going. However if there was a mages division then the first rule would be no flame weapons as it would not be fair on the spectators or the next contestants if half the arena was on fire.
As I say I just want to make a purely player made feature and make it liberal thus the free spectators. I know the entry fee for fighters is not liberal but there has to be some sort of self-maintaining prize.

Other Weapons
I like crossbows and yellow potions, though its not exactly the best choice when you are fighting , as Cain put quite well "some metal encased gorrilas". Also, a bolt of lightning or two would make it more fun to watch. But there shouldnt be any mana potions or such. Oh, and did I mention I like crossbows?[/quote]
