Notes In Vanima

Post by Darkshade »

Notes can be found put on the wall of the main hall and smithy in vanima. as well as on the table in the garden and next to the elder Shans sleeping place.

The following note is written in elvish and re written in elvish though the elvish is abit rough.

Ksiksin has once again employed me to write a note to the elves of Vanima... this is what she has asked me to right. Ksiksin as some of you know wishes to be citizen in Tol Vanima... but Tol Vanima is home for elves as was explained to her by elder Shan. Ksiksin understands that elves would be nervous of non elves ruining there beautifull home so she has suggestion. Why not when a non elf who has befriended and is trusted by at least some o0f the elven comunity she and them can approach an elder. The elder will then assign the non elf to an elven citizen to serve and be watched over them for two days. at the end of two days the elf will take the non elf back to the elder and tell them that she is willing or not willing to vouch for the non elf. If she doesnt vouch then the non elf cant be citizen. if the elf does vouch then the elder will watch over and be served by the non elf for an hour or so. if the elder is satisfied she will inform the non elf of the next meeting. at the next meeting the elder will tell the rest of the elven comunity that the non elf is vouched for by her then every one else votes if the non elf is accepted or not. if there are more votes in the non elfs favour then the non elf is accepted as a citizen. if against then the non elf is not. if there is a tie then the elder and elf who vouched for the non elf will set a test that must be passed. if it is passed then the non elf is accepted as cittizen if not then the non elf is not a citizen.

Damien reads over one of the parchments, shaking his head while grumbling something in elven as he wanders off.

Lhosseth comes walking into the main hall of Tol Vanima, humming softly to herself. A hint of a smile on her face as she brushes her white hair absent-mindedly with a comb while walking. As she passes one of the notes she barely glances at it and walks on. When she sees another from the corner of her eye she becomes interested and moves closer to read what is says. Leaning forward, her eyes narrow immediately upon reading the name that starts the note.
Now giving it her full attention, she carefully puts away her comb and twists a strand of her hair between her fingers as she reads. At first she blinks a few times and shakes her head as if not trusting her own eyes. As she continues reading her pine green eyes slowly open wide in surprise, before again narrowing, this time into a deep frown as her hands stop their movement.
Upon finishing the note Lhosseth opens and closes her mouth a few times, then looks around the hall to see if there is anyone to share her reaction with. When seeing no one she turns her head back to glare at the offending note. "The nerve to...", she sputters, unable to control herself any longer: ".. after bringing so much trouble to our island...." A flash of pain seems to cross her face before she continues in a strained tone: ".. after the way she greatly upset our sister....." Lhosseth stands back, her now darkened eyes still glaring at the note, her hands balled into fists at her side. "And to tell us Elves how to govern our city!" her voice a few pitches higher than before, glaring at the note as if to burn a hole into it: "I cannot believe such rudeness!" Lhosseth closes her eyes for a moment and takes one very deep breath before she turns around and storms out of the hall to look for one of the Elders to speak about this.

Another note is put in the main hall ksiksin has once again hired me to write a note it is as follows... I have been hearing things of elves angred at me for certain things posted on these boards. I am just making a suggestion that could introduce many helpful people to tol vanima. For example there have been times where i have seen the smiths without any food so they were to weak to work. Or they did not have any way to aquire the handles they need. The non elf residents could help with that. On two small side notes i never said that the elven comunity trusted me yet and i did not make is was but not caelianna sick that was exhaustiom. I just struck that final blow by frightning her. And how was i supposed to know she fears orcs? I wish nothing but prosperity for tol vanima and her beautiful citizens and would never intentionaly harm one of them

Raising up from her sleep Shandariel won't find a letter beside her since she is sleeping hidden in the woods, never using the same place twice after each other. As she walks into the mainhall she finds the first letter, having a glance to it she sighs softly. Once she finished them she walks to the wall and pins a note to it

To Ksiksin and the one spreading the letters for her.

Thank you for your concerns with Vanima and our politics, but as I told Ksiksin already, Vanima is home to the Elfs and halfelfs living the elven traditions and those non elfs who are either married to an elf or who have commited great deeds to our home and our folk, earning the honour and the right to live among us. We also won't change this since this is our elven tradition, I am sorry to have to dissapoint you in this.

Vanima is more then just a home for elfs and elven friends...it is also a haven to retreat to to find peace and harmony. A place of meditation and balance. This would be all in danger and most probably disturbed would we suddenly start to welcome many non elfs on our isle who can't and won't understand our elven path and traditions.

The elven path, traditions and understanding of our world is nothing which can be learned and obtained in a few month or years of study...you have to be born into it, raised in it for centurys...or you have to possess a related soul to our path, owning a natural understanding of our way.

Please do not ask further about this topic, and please do not litter our beautiful home again with parchments being spread all over it.

Sincerly,

~Shandariel el Lysanthrai~
Elder of Tol Vanima
