achlemism

Post by Drogla »

i dont know if i spelled it right or if this has been suggested before, but achlemism. they are scientist of way back when. we should have that ontop of druids and mages. they can make litle trinkes. like a mechanical sword that you jsut hold and it will swing its blad back and forth to atack all by itself or something.
underdeveloped thought. hoping you all could help on it...

You are talking about Alchemists, and the druids in the world now are actually Alchemists.

Alchemists just worked with various chemicals and elements experimenting to see what would happen when they mixed them.

The kills that druids have now are Alchemist skills.

Yes alchemists weren't inventors, they were chemists. The proffesions you are talking about isn't really appropriate until an 1800 setting (roughly).

Even more so their main goal and ultimate dream was to be able to produce gold from lesser metals. Especially lead was widely thought to have the ability of transmuting into gold given the right circumstances, maybe due to it's extreme weight (much like gold's).

anyway,just a little tidbit of history ;)

You have any idea what would happen to the value of gold if some lucky apprentice of an alchemist would find a way to make gold from some chemicals?
(If I remember correctly, there is a way to 'make' gold from quikcsilver in molecular level, but it is extremely expensive and the amout of gold made by this way is disappearlingly small. If I remember correctly, that is.)

The value of gold would come crashing down!
Why do you think that gold is valuable?
Because it is rare!

Yes... I think it's possible to create gold from most elements with a particle collider, or something of that nature. Just it is more expensive than a bar of gold is worth and you can only make one atom at a time.
