Simple knife

Post by Rye »

In Medieval Europe pretty much everyone carried a knife of some sort. From the farmer to the hunter right down to the poorest peasant knives were an important tool for everyday use. It might be a very primitive thing but it was an indispensable item for living. Not to be confused with a dagger which is useful only as a weapon. A knife was needed to eat, to cook, to skin animals and many more uses. It could also be used for defending oneself in a desperate situation. Depending upon the person and the skill of the local smith it might be anything from a small folding blade (yes they had folding knives much like the razor we have now) to a strong hefty knife with a scabbard.
It's not a great glamorous idea but I think having a knife of some sort on your belt ought to be required for a number of actions in the game such as the activities I mentioned earlier.

Since it is used for a broad range of activities you can safely assume that your character carries a knife with him/her all the time, without the need of a graphical representation.

In other words:
Don't burden the players with yet another carried tool that they have to have with them all the time.

Getting to his feet Alex picks up Lura carrying her into the cave and setting her down just inside the entrance "Now wait there I'll be right back okay" without further thought Alex draws a sharp dagger from his boot and scaling the closest palm tree starts cutting a few big leaves off letting them fall to the floor where the dead ones are.
You done even have to carry one mate just Rp it, i do :)

If you need a knife to get fruit from a tree by a simple dagger or a razor blade..

Meh, hatchets are WAY cooler.
Just read the book, the guy practically built NYC with his bare hands and the hatchet.
Men use hatchets.
End.

On topic also, I agree, no further tools are needed IMO.

See this button: Image

It allows you to keep your useless rambling hardly anyone takes the time to read anymore in a single reply. Pretty useful.
