Brille gesucht / Looking for my glasses

Post by Thomas Gartington »

A cheapish parchment is pinned on some trees north and west of the lake Adron, written with a shaky hand.

Dear people of Gobaith
Some days ago i stranded on this island after a severe storm. Why on earth the gods had pitty with me of all people, I don't know. As a matter of fact, I haven't found anyone else yet, who survived the storm. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what happened in that storm, nor do I remember more than a few fragments of my life before it.

However, that's not my primary concern at the moment: By bad luck I not only lost all my possessions except from what I was wearing, but as well my thick glasses, which were made by a glass polisher for me. I have searched a reasonable part of the beach around the place I came ashore, as well as I could without my glasses, without finding anything. If somebody would find it or could even polish new glasses for me, I would be very grateful! It would make my life here much more comfortable.

A small note in sloppy handwriting is attached to the bottom of the parchment. Not having enough room, some of the writing goes up the side and actually on the original parchment.

Sir Thomas,

I was training the other day and found a small piece of carved, perfectly clear glass under an apple tree near Lake Adron. When holding it up to the light, it appeared to make things much larger as if magic had been used in the making of it.... would this be part of your glasses? If so, I fear the rest is not to be found.

Sincerely,

Kaila Travinus

The original parchment has been reversed. On the back there is written in big and shaky letters:

Dear lady,

I am very glad you saved part of my glasses! In order to use it as a model for new glasses, it would be convenient, if you could hand it over to me. Of course this meeting is also in your interest.
Since I do not know when you'll pass by here the next time. I shall be at this place every day at sunset until we can meet. I hope you won't make me wait too long...

Below and very tiny, because there is no space left, due to the large letters:

Sincerely yours T.G.

The original parchment having been attached to the tree quite a few days appears now barely legible as Kaila gently pulls it away having finally gone back to West Strand from her trip through the forests of her home in Tol Vanima. Turning the paper up to the light of her wand, she makes out just a few words on the back then takes a pen and not seeing anywhere to write, mumbles a few magic words disappearing completely before again returning with a totally new parchment. Making a construct of a deer, she uses ribbon to attach the parchment to it's neck yet when unrolled a strange shaped glass would fall out.

Sir T.G.

I am sorry I missed you yet have attached this glass in the parchment for you and hope it helps. If you need a mage to help shape the new one, and if I am not in the far forests I will be happy to help.

Kaila

There is a large ink blot at the end of her name as if the pen finally quit working.
