The Watch- Crime Fighting

Post by Leinad »

Dear Citizens,

It has come to the attention of me and some comrades that the land lacks a force of good, a crime prevention team that can adequetly deal with all the crimes around and judge the best course of action. Therefore i have decided to begin The Watch, an elite crime fighting force that will stop criminals and murderers effectively and quickly. Not, however, taking the easy option of condeming them to death, but of a fair trial with suitable punishments, in example: A person runs at you, grabs your gold as you bring it from your pouch to buy something and starts to run, Their should always be one person of the watch on patrol in the city, if you shout, they can help you get the money back, and a fine of the amount stolen will be incured to the theif, if they fail to pay the fine they will be imprisoned for a small amount of time or banished from the city until they repent their sins, simply by apologizing to a member of The Watch or the victim.
If you are with me on this please tell me, I need the support of our community before we take action

This is a very virtuous suggestion, Leinad....but, if I may be so bold as to inquire-Who made you the Law in this community, pray tell...
And, what is to stop you and your group from being corrupted by same evil forces you are endeavouring to stop :?:

No one else seems to want to take up the task, would it not better the community for us all if there were some kind of active force to deter crime, by means of not killing, but other forms of punishment, as for going corrupt, it would not be an option as the community's gratitude would lift spirits, i know i would not go corrupt, it would be like saying to a king "Will you ever leave the throne and let us down" of course he would not... A nice argument though Brendan

I do wish you luck on your little attempt to bring peace to the world...though I must say that it is highly unlikely you will make an impressionable difference. It is not up to one man to take justice into his own hands...many have tried...alone and in groups. It does not change the course of corruption, but rather prolongs the inevitable.

Keep that in might as your precious Watchers guard an unprotectable town.....Again....Good luck be with ye...though it is not enough to have luck.

Many guilds strive for this but the fact is, the guilds that I know of, who are "powerful" and wise enough to promote and enforce peace the fact of the matter is there are too many hours in a day, not enough members and too many unscrupolous people in Troll's Bane. (I hope I used the right, incorrectly spelt (there I go again...) word). Even then, the person or persons who decide the law would have to be trusted by a majority and wise. Perhaps, someday there will be enough people and enough time to work out the laws but until then, what you are proposing of doing seems impossible.

#me looks at the posts and wonders when a sheep was able to pick up a quill and write..

But anyways
Their should always be one person of the watch on patrol in the city, if you shout, they can help you get the money back, and a fine of the amount stolen will be incured to the theif, if they fail to pay the fine they will be imprisoned for a small amount of time or banished from the city until they repent their sins, simply by apologizing to a member of The Watch or the victim.
Now.. Let me ask you this little sheep, A fine of the amount stolen will be incured. Please tell me how you plan on making them pay. And as for thy failing to pay the fine, I'd love to see ye try and imprison someone for a certain amount of time. You might as well ask next for a town jail to be built #me starts laughing . And Banished from the city? bwhahahahaha

Little sheep who do you think you are to try and start #me sighs ANOTHER BORING ATTEMPT THAT FAILS EVERYTIME AT BRINGING JUSTICE PEACE PROTECTION ETC ETC TO TROLLS BANE?

BWHAHAHAHAHA. Little sheep I suggest you go back to mining or cuttin trees. Crime will rule trolls bane forever and no group will banish it as many have tried.

#me pictures halfing entrails wrapped around roasted leg of lamb soakin in orcs blood as he finishes his note and begins to get hungry

Leinad, as someone who has just suffered an unprovoked attack on my life I would like to say I support your idea. There is too much crime in town, but as soon as someone suggests a way to combat it they are shouted down. I wonder sometimes as to the motives behind these protests. Yes the job will not be easy, yes you may not be able to patrol 24 hours a day seven days a week and yes your organisation might be open to corruption, but does that mean we should do nothing and let the scum run free? I am old and dont have many summers left but I would like to live them in peace if at all possible. Don't give up too soon on your idea.

As you all should know by reading this post, Roke said:

Well, why not have all the leaders of these "powerful" guilds ((from all over the world)) meet, and ally to create even the smallest of crime fighting system?
