The hallways of the Seahorse were quiet, after the stern-looking guard had driven everyone out of the room, to let the Governor rest while a medico was being waited for. The door remained firmly closed, with the guard on the other and a silent darkness on the other side. If someone would open the door and peer into the darkness of the room, upon first glance it would seem as if the silent room was empty and void of life. After the eyes would get used to the darkness… they could notice a motionless body lying on one side of the large bed. The air inside the room was thick… and you could easily notice faint smell of blood, which only gets stronger near the bed. Someone standing right next to the bed could hear a faint, shaky sound of breathing and even notice the very slight movements of his chest.
That is the governor. Bandages are wrapped around his torso, covering the deep wounds scattered across his chest. The bandages hide the crudely sewn wounds from sight, but one can tell where the deepest cuts are from the blood which oozes out from between the stitches, visibly staining the cloth with blood. The dried blood forms large, brown-yellowish areas on the bandages. It’s obvious that he was badly wounded, looking frail and pale thanks to the loss of blood. Pearls of sweat cover his forehead, and he is still unconscious... or in a deep, exhausted sleep.

There was one person among the people in the seahorse with their hectic steps, upset voices and dismayed faces who was going through bitter agony as there was no way to getting closer to her beloved husband.
They kept her away as if she was a disturbing factor - nonetheless useful.
Even if the shock about the attempt on the governors life didn't want to fade, she knew she had to prove strength now, for both.
She couldn't do anything else than abandon the little fight with the people who kept her away from him.
Nonetheless, it didn't want to suit her that the woman who obviously wasn't either a druid nor a medico took now care of his wounds. 'Her' hands were quite more useful than hers..but how to prove when there's no way to show.
"Fools" she thought again and again in her own grief of having been excluded. The hours passed...miserable long in which she just walked up and down the foyer in a nervous and waiting manner as she muttered several quiet quick prayers to Ushara who shall hold her sheltering hands above him.
Finally, the moment of redemption seemed to come as the dull voices of everyone involved reported that his wounds are now clean and sewed but that he's still unconscious.
It was obvious that she was affecting attention as she listened with the concerned gaze fixed at the ladder and her mind just yearning to finally being close to him to let him feel that she is now there as well.

A cool draught crept through the room as the big front door fell into the lock as they all left the house and she inhaled the fresh air deep through her nose in an encouraging manner before she rushed over to the ladder, climbing it up.
Her concerned gaze fell on the unknown guard in front their room as she came to an abrupt halt, soon leading her slow steps further towards the door with her serious looking eyes gazing into the eyes of the guard. She extended one hand, which was smeared by blood, towards the door handle but soon had to feel the guards hand, firm clutching on her shoulder. She spoke with a harsh voice as the guard hold the steady clutch on her shoulder, preventing her from stepping into the room "I'm the wife of the governor, Lady Cromwell. Let me see him, now!"
With a suspicious look into her pale-blue eyes which were filled with seriousness and a moment of consideration he slowly released his hand under a quiet mutter of a sorry.
Ashayen merely nodded and pushed the door handle down to open the door, immediately stepping in...into the darkness.
She furrowed her brows and blinked several times, irritated about the darkness in the room. The faint smell of blood crept into her nose and the close air in the room was like a blow against a wall. She stood there by the door for a moment, motionless and eavesdropping as she looked through the darkness. The atmosphere in the room made her feel uneasy and a soft whisper came over her lips as she faced the bed, walking immediatly closer towards it with a racing heart "Edward?"
Stumbling against the small table right next to the bed she brought her shaky fingers to it, soon lighting up some candles. As the room now slowly seemed to lighten up she shifted her concerned gaze towards the bed and looked over him with furrowed brows. She gasped as she faced the blood-drenched bandages around his torso and sank down on her knees in front of the bed to have a closer look, muttering in agitation "By Ushara what have they done with you..."
Hoping the unknown woman would have done an at least satisfying job she sat now there, staring at the failed result. Anger raised deep in herself and with gritted teeth she bended over closer towards his sweaty face. With a tiltened head and a soft sigh coming from her lips she extended one of her blood-smeared hands to gently stroke over his sweaty forehead, whispering with a mellow tone and a gentle smile "I'm here now, my love...we'll make it together now."
The fingers of her free hand pull on the glass vial dangling from her neck as her examining gaze traveled over his face, eying the forehead, covered with pearls of sweat with a thoughtful expression upon her face. "I'm sure they haven't done anything against the poison.." she muttered to herself before she uncorked the glass vial with the red liquid and quickly leaned back towards his head to pour the red juice between his lightly parted lips. After she wiped the pearls of sweat from his forehead, kissing it gently she made herself ready to have another look at his wounds.
It took her some hours to clean every stab precisely and to stew the deeper wound which was so crudely sewn before. Quiet curses were spoken out as she worked with high concentration, angry about the bad treatment of her husband, the governor of trolls bane.
Putting the last rest of the bandage aside she looked over her own work with a brief satisfied smile and let out an exhausted sigh right after. The room now wasn't just lighted by the candles now, no..even a mild scent of herbs linger around.
Ignoring the chaos upon the table next to the bed which is now covered by bloody bandages, clean cloth and several pouches she made her way towards the chair to pull it closer towards the bed, finally sitting down with another sigh. Now the weariness slowly seemed to overwhelm her and she knew she needed a rest now as well, since she couldn't do anything else than waiting.
With a bitter smile she leaned closer towards his bandaged chest to lay her head gently against, wrapped one of her arms loosely around his lower abdomen and closed her eyes to listen to his faint heartbeat coming from underneath the bandage .. a quiet mutter escaped her lips, spoken with a soft and shaky voice, before she felt asleep. "Stay with me.. 'cause i need you.."

A faint scent of herbs had completely replaced the thick air and stench of blood inside the dimly lit room. Despite hours of their change, the bandages seemed to be clean and made it clear that her stitches were holding firm. His bandaged chest moved up and down, slowly and steady.. with her arm wrapped around his lower abdomen. The head turned unsteadily from one cheek to the other, before he took a deep breath through his parted lips. The deep breath immediately triggered a violent cough, which shook him awake from the unsteady slumber.
Slowly, he realized the taste of blood and the herbs of her antidote in his mouth and gasped, frightened and surprised… with his eyes opening to wildly gaze around the dimly lit room. His hands shuffled hastily on the bed sheets as he tried to push himself up to a sitting position, but the strong, piercing pain on his chest immediately made futility of the attempt clear to him. Reluctantly, he lowered himself back on the bed with a grimace on his lips. He swallowed and tried to control his breath to calm himself down, little by little becoming aware of his surroundings. He blinked a few times and let out a relieved sigh as he looked down saw a familiar face, with her head resting against his chest. The muscles of his body seemed to relax as he very slowly… brought his hand to brush over her hair. The hand was shaking and every small movement felt difficult, but for a short moment his fingers stubbornly brushed over her pitch black hair, until the strain of the movement became too much and forced him to lower his hand back on the bed. He let out another relieved sigh, letting his eyes close again.
His face was still unnaturally pale, but the thin lips curved to a very faint smile as a single thought lingered inside his head. “I have nothing to worry about. As you are here, my love... I know this can’t be hell… and my wounds must be properly cared for...”The corners of his lips twitched briefly, as he took a deep breath. The worst was behind.

Rhandarja left the Seahorse after her prayer to Lady Sirani. She felt really exhausted, as she went around the corner .. there was a chair and it looked inviting. As she was sitting, her eyes become smaller and smaller ... until a thought brought her back to live ... The Governor! She did, what she could, and this was very little ... nothing more then stabilize him. If he should survive, a Medico was needed.
Rhandarja came up and with tired steps she went to the hospital, opened the door and looked around. "Hello?" No answer. No, Rhandarja, it wasn't that easy! The Barde walks through Trolls Bane, asking everyone she met for a Healer .. with no success. The fourth or fifth said "Girl, today is the celebration of lights in Greenbriar. What to you think, where everyone went?" The Celebration! She was on her way to Greenbriar, as Ram stopped her. She forgot it.
"Rhandarja, now it's up to you .. he must survive until Help is in Bane ... Maybe his wife also went to Briar. Holy Sirani, make her come back not too late!"
With a deep sigh she went down to work. A Halfling selled her a length of clean linen, which she cuttet into small stripes. She obtained some Herbs, which may help ... or which at least won't harm.
After some hours, Rhandarja went back to the Seahorse. She was known to the Guard at the front door and so she stepped in after some words. She went upstairs, opened the door ... and stops immediatly. In the twighlight of the room, someone bends over the body of Lord Cromwell.
She opens her mouth for calling the guard ...

Over the whole night she didn't changed her sleeping position for a single moment. Her head still leaned against his bandaged chest and the bandages still clean and as white as before. Her arm still wrapped around his lower abdomen seemed to have tightened the hold as she held him almost desperately and stubbornly...nobody should wrest her away from him.
Her sleep was deep and steady, too strenuous and eventful was the day for herself, especially after the hard, concentrating work on her injured husband. She didn't even noticed the redeeming signs.. his cough.. his touch, as she dedicated herself to her own rest.
The odoriferous scent of the used herbs still filled the air inside the calm room which was still lighted by the dim light of the candles, but the calm sadly didn't last long as it got disturbed by the call for the guard.
Her resting body winced hard against Edwards body and she abruptly straightened up into a sitting position, wide-awake. The muscles of her slender body seemed to have tightened with shock before she turned her head in a swift movement, glaring at the opened door with her pale face. Her pale-blue eyes narrowed slightly as she realized the woman in the door and just in the moment before the guard, who was looking around the door frame, could have said a single word, she raised her own voice to speak with a harsh, yet still quiet tone to becalm the situation.
"Calm down again, there's no reason to call for the guard - at least...not for you" The guard merely nodded at Ashayens words and leaned back against the wall as if nothing happened.
Ashayen narrowed her displeased gleaming eyes, still indignant about her loud call for the guard as she began to examine her and soon wrinkled the nose in a disdainfully manner as she realized who she actually was. Her arm still wrapped around the lower abdomen of the governor she let her eyes travel back towards him, the hard facial expression prompt replaced by a caring one as she observed his steady breathing torso, not much later glaring at him in a tensed way, hoping that he probably found back to her due to the loud incident.

The loud noises and movement around him, as well as the ray of light entering the dimly lit room from he open door made him move unsteadily in his sleep. Slowly the eyes opened to gaze at the world around him, in a somewhat tired and dizzy manner, with the muscles of his body tightening as he somewhat nervously glanced around. As his eyes met the gaze of her pale blue eyes, his tensed body relaxed visibly and he just slightly pushed body up on the elbows, grimacing briefly. A relieved sigh escaped from his lips as he stared at her for a moment, muttering.. “Is everything alright.. dear?” while making a brief, meaningful glance towards the door. His face looked pale, but the green eyes had regained their sparkle.
Her red lips slowly begun to twitch, her gaze still fixed upon Edward, obviously appearing tensed still. Every movement, every breath he took caused that her breath became faster as he slowly seemed to awoke. Of course he had no notion of how much she had yearned to finally look into his green eyes again, neither did he know about the chaos around him nor about the unskilled hands which tried to take care of him.
"Is everything alright...dear?"
She blinked and furrowed her gently curved brows, the sullen look abruptly turned towards the woman who was still standing by the open door as she listened to Edwards words. She pursed her lips and seemed to ponder before she answered with a malicious smile ".. definitely not."

rhandarja stood there with a shock in her eyes ... she didn't expect Ashayen in thsi room, for no one found her the evening before. so, it's a really surprise.
"Holy Sirani, Lady Cromwell!" those are the first surprised words, which came over her lips after the guard arrived. It took her a few moments too realize what happens ... and to realize, that she is the disturbing person here.
"I'm really sorry .. I didn't know ... I thought ..." she takes a deep breath, only to get the moment for sorting her thoughts. "I thought, the murder came back to accomplish what he began yesterday." The next deep breath .. now, she is able to smile. And her smile is the gift, which Lady Sirani gave her as she was a child.
"I came to change the bandages of the governor .. there's no medico available at the moment. So, if I may help ..."
She takes her jam-packed bag from ths shoulder, placing it on the ground,as it's really weighty.

Ashayen kept gazing at her with the still sullen look present upon her pale face. The corners of her mouth twitched at her offer and for a moment she gave Edward a brief look, before licking over her lips, answering, almost hissing in a enraged manner
" I'm 'his' medico.."
She faced the table right next to the bed, nodding at all the blood-smeared bandages, a mortar, the open pouches which are filled with several herbs and faced her then again with cold-gleaming eyes.
"Go and use your hands for what they are made for but that is definitely not the path of a druid nor the path of a medico.."

The Barde presses her lips together. She expected anything... but not this reaction.
"Fine, ~Lady~ Cromwell. Maybe next time, if I find your man laying in his blood, slowly, but surely running his live out of his venes ... and no healer is around ... like you as well ~lady~ ... maybe this time I use my hands for what they made for .. and play the lute for him. I didn't beg for this work, neither i said, that I'm a medico. I did my best to save the life of your husband. If I had didn't this, now we wouldn't argue in this room, but on the graveyard. I wonder whether you would ask me the same .. using my hands for what they made for."
Her black eyes are sparkling like lightnings during her statement ... and after this, she takes a deep breath.
"For Lady Siranis sake ... it's not the time to argue. And not the place. We can do this in any other time, on any other place .. but not at the bed of you deadly wounded husband."

She snorted in a scornful manner, shaking the head as she listened to her words before she raised an objection.
"I was around, they just all kept me away. I was around as the bandit unsheathed his weapons, i was there...kneeling at his side before they brought him up here. You have no idea how it felt for me being excluded. It was like a fight a mother would do if someone would wrest her baby from her."
With her words getting lower and lower, leaning back in the chair she just stared then at Edward, breathing fast in her anger.

The dark lightinings faded away during Ashayens' words. They where given away for a really sorrowful glance. Her voice, first with a touch of anger, now lowers down getting the warmth for which she is known.
"Lady Cromwell ... I didn't know that. Lady Sirani will be my witness, I did send someone to search you, as the Governor whispered you name in his agony.
I came to his bed, as everyonbe was running around like chicken with a fox among them. Everyone cried for a medic, but no one did anything to still the bleeding. If this had last some more time .. in the name of the Goddess, your husband had died. Someone had to do the necessary things. So I did what I can. Yes ... my hands where made for playing the lute. But I know how to set bandages ... and to do a little is even better then doing nothing and watching his life fading away.
Trust me, if only I had known, that you where near, I would have brought you to him, personally."
Her eyes are covered in sorrow and sadness.
"I know, how you felt ... and, by the Lady of Love, I would never separate two lovers in their darkest hour"

His gaze travelled between the two women as he listened to their words, remaining silent during the arguing. He still laid on the bed, and slowly begun speaking with a quiet, weak tone.. holding short pauses to catch his breath.
” ..It was a bliss.. that she was around to.. properly take care of.. me”
He took a deep breath, which soon made him cough. “Mhm, I suppose I... have to thank you for your efforts and such... but…regrettably they were found… lacking... this time..” He glanced at the bard, gesturing weakly towards his wife with his hand “…I could have.. died because she was … ignored… and this is the perfect… proof… of why any decisions… should not be made… by such misinformed, panicky groups..” His lips curved to a weak, dry smirk as he continued “…though, maybe at least some of those present wished… for my death” He made a light, dismissive wave with his hand, glancing at the bard. “.. Maybe… you know how… treat easy wounds, but serious… cases… should be left to *my* medico… and others like her… in the future”
He coughed again, closing his eyes as he fell silent. His bandaged chest moved up and down slowly, and he seemed exhausted by the long speech. After a moment he glanced at Ashayen, with his eyes only half-open “…The… bandages… had to be changed… today, my dear?”
