Carpenter Craftsmaster , "currently on holiday."

When creating my character I selected the carpenter option for my beginning equipment.

However , when I arrived at Findecano Melwasul's castle and tried to take the portal to the carpenter craftsmaster no portal was there and when examining the signpost [next to where the portal should be] I get the message "currently on holiday."

Anyone know why?

Thanks for reading.

Yes it appears so. It's a helpful tutorial.

Though after reading
http://illarion.org/community/forums/vi ... hp?t=25604 it appears some of the craftmasters are still in development.

So that brings me to my next question.

Since I picked the set of tools related to carpentry for my beginner items should I just move to the mainland and try and learn carpentry on my own or try and learn a different trade from a different craftmaster?

The other trades are helpful to learn to get an idea of the general way skills work if you are not familiar with them, they will give you an idea how carpentry works in a general way. I don't believe the carpenter has been set up yet, just the lumberjack.

Welcome to Illarion, Gaeus. You seem like a great addition. :D

I feel like creating a new account to play Noobia. :/ Is there a way for us "older" players to have a look at it?

When you create a char you have a choice to go there now though I haven't tried it, I really like the choice of going to other towns rather then trolls bane also.

I'll try the other trades I guess and see if I take a liking to any of them. I'm hoping to become some sort of crafter (probably a carpenter).

Yes the lumberjack tutorial is in and it was very helpful and easy to learn. There are a few more trades at some sort of castle.

Once again thank you all for the help.

You can still craft in carpentry when off the island, testing other trades while there will give you a good idea how to begin.

Thanks for the advice , that's what I did.

I started practicing carpentry when I got off the island , and so far I am liking it. Finding the correct wood to make handles can be quite a lot of work though.
