Bandit Raids

Post by thindrake »

While walking to the Depot this evening, in Trollsbane, was attacked by a tall dwarf for no reason, then a goblin jumped in.

I am well aware that this game is pvp anywhere, but, for 2 other characters to attack someone for no reason, neither said anything about me giving them my goods, or this is a robbery, they just began to pummel me for no reason.

Is this the norm for this game?

I was under the impression that this was an "rpg", not some hack and slash someone else game just for the fun of it without any lead in conversing.

Just wondering if someone could let me know if this is normal?

No, this isn't normal for the game, you got very unlucky, it's not happened once to me in 3 years. If they emoted, but stayed silent, that isn't against the rules, that's just them playing shady characters who don't want to speak. If they didn't emote, you should report them to a gm.

By the way, this should be in General, not Off Topic.

Sorry for your loss and troubles, and welcome to illarion.

This is not the norm, it's possible that it was new players, who don't understand the game concept yet, attacking you without reason. Attacking without a valid RP reason and without emotes is very frowned upon, and if you remember their character IDs you could contact a GM to handle the problem.

This has never happened to me either, at least two though a couple of times a new player would attack without an emote.

As an aside, I thought since goblin was an application process, they would be well versed in rolelay, or at least have been in game with another character for a little?

I was the goblin, and I didn't attack randomly, the OP now knows this.
I infact first healed the elf who was being attacked, then got told he was a thief, so I then attacked. He then logged.
I was then attacked by the dwarf who accused him.

The dwarf is now being chased by the GMs, because nothing was stolen, he refused to rp, and attacked without reason.

It was me who alerted the GMs to this.

So no, Goblin did nothing wrong - sorry if you got that impression. The game is usually not like that, the dwarf is obviously new to the game, and like I said, should be getting a speaking to.

actualy the dwarf managed to steal a significant portion of the elf's belongings since thindrake is not a well established character, all of his belongings are somewhat significant to him. i hope they could be returned to him ( no its not my char, but a good friend of mine)

If something like this happens use the !gm -call and tell us the charname and/or -number.
Then we can react and have a talk with the concerned PO.

i told him to use the !gm pager, from my understanding, at least 2 other peopel also fired of !gm pages, the problem is that many of us cant see the number anymore, only 'tall dwarf' which isn't very helpful, but we know he name now. Baruq or something incredibly similar. I had the impression from a fight with this player that he was NOT a new player but instead a player who had some measure of skill in the game due to certain language he used.

boils down to.. he knew he was breakign rules... didn't care

Yes, there was a (n) player on the dwarf list with a name like that at the same time. I remember. Admittedly having no numbers is hard to identify people with.

You can change 'human - dwarf - rabbit' to the charnumber.
Open the login-window, choose 'options' and make a hook at 'show ID'.

Baruq is a new player - therefore be patient, please.
I'll have a talk with him as soon as possible.
