The laws of Trollsbane:
One flaw in the system seems to be that every suspect is guilty until proven innocent. Now this idea is idiotic simply because the Governer could choose to make anyone a suspect and then have them arrested without trial (if they are not a citizen).
Secondly, the law of disobedience : Whilst having an argument with the orcess Rukka. Mr Sladrir appears on the scene with his head up his rear as usual. So I soon leave due to exasperation and he suddenly chases after me, he declares that I am disobedient. So I say to him " If you told me to kiss your rear would I have to do so" . He replies "Yes Indeed" this demeans the people of Trollsbane and even the residents of Gobiath. It makes them slaves under this dictatorous rule. The powerful people in positions in the goverment or public services rule over the farmers and peasants and craftspeople such as myself.
Now I ask you citizens and residents of Trollsbane and Gobiath are these the principals that Trollsbane was constructed on...
The answer simply is No.
Christopher Rigden.

Ahh yes, the voice of the ages speaking, when Trollsbane was built you were not even born, you know nothing and should act like it. The current state of the laws is the most logical, previous governments who foolishly used the other systems enabled criminals to walk free despite witnesses because there was no other proof.
As for your second point, the strong always rule the weak, this is the way of the world, it always has and always will be, and it is the same anywhere you go in the world.

Reguardless of my own personal feelings towards them, the fact of the matter is, the law makes more sence now as a previous guard captain I can appriciate that.
Callith
And to the coward above who fails to sign his name, perhaps you did not do so because despite that written attack Jorokar could still kill you without breaking a sweat.

Aye yes, yes Guard Captain. As a guard captain did you sit in the tavern and have drinks with outlaws? Did you allow banned men to freely walk the streets? Did you listen to the cries of your governor to tell the Knighthood of Kallahorn to not bring weapons into town? He's a joke and so are his demands. The guards do not enforce them.

Christopher, when is it that you will grow up?
The Governor could choose to make anyone a suspect, that is true. But I am not going around, accusing each person I see with random, stupid bullocks and have them fined or jailed until they prove they are innocent. If people realize, it is only the guilty that complain about this law. In fact, the good citizens have not to worry. If you do not like this, then leave from Troll's Bane, by all means.
As for disobedience, you've only proved immense immaturity when facing me or the Guards. Yes, if you are told by any of the authority to lick their backside, then you will have to do so. You are so immature and foolish that you take this literally and seem to expect this done to you. Obviously, none of the Guards or myself will order citizens to do so. If I see that any guard is abusing this power, then I shall take action. But if you are suspected of a crime, then insulting and feeling from a Guard who has just ordered you to stay where you are and not run away only makes you guilty.
You have never shown any respect towards the authority from the first day. You insult, you damage Troll's Bane property, you flee from the authority's orders...it is obvious that you live so uncomfortable and so disturbed. If you would comply, perhaps it would all been better. Now, you either pay your fine or leave from Troll's Bane.

Christopher Rigden,
If you continue down this path, people are just going to deem you a mad-man and probably a worshiper of Nargùn. I will account here and now on this fine piece of parchment our second encounter. On Zhambra's name these words are true. At first everything was alright as I sat in one of the chairs at the workshop in Trolls Bane next to my wife. Mister Rigden approached the depot with his weapon unsheathed so I asked him to sheath it. He did so politely and even apologized. Afterward he introduced himself to my wife, once again in a polite manner. My wife soon left to take a nap and it was just Artimer, Chris, Sssari, Misha, my son and me standing around chatting. Then all of a sudden for no reason he unsheathes his blade and starts hacking the stretcher outside the workshop and then carves his initials C.R. Thanks to Artimer a citizen of Trolls Bane he pointed out that mister Rigden had done so. As a guard this action can be punishable by a Section III Class C. crime.
However, since the leather could easily be replaced even with the pig plague going around I decided to warn Mister Rigden that he was breaking a law. He even confessed to me that he done so. So I ordered him to take the leather off and put a new one up since it wasnt that detrimental to classify it as a class III offense. Since the man was not immediately cooperating Artimer decided to do it himself and tried to put up a new leather. Mister Rigden immediately stopped him then brushed him back from the stretcher. You are a delusional man to say the least Chris, as your reasoning for why you carved your name into a leather clearly proves. He called it his contribution to the city of Troll's Bane. Apparently, you are obsessed with yourself and value your name being seen everywhere and do not care seeing it written as a criminal or hero.
He further made him self look like an arse by shoving Artimer when he tried to take the carved leather from the workshop doorway. I once again tried to warn Chris that he was breaking yet another law. This time he returned fire with a personal insult. Your actions are nothing less then foolishness Chris. It seems you act out of boredom and do not have a general care for anyone else past yourself. When you cant get the stage-light from catching a criminal you become one yourself. You are an idiot and you have broken far too many laws within this town to merit a single ounce of my respect. I hope all see how stupid and childish you really are to preform such petty acts of vandalism, harassment, name calling, duress, and disobedience.
I can truly understand why you would start a post like this. You want everyone to be innocent until proven guilty so that you can run around town and perform such stupid acts of vandalism and be considered innocent. You are a criminal your words mean nothing, you have tarnished your name and have no honor. Furthermore, you are a coward that ran from me and shouted at a distance your insults. Innocent until proven guilty? I laugh at such words, and it is a clear indication of just how mad you really have become. If you are innocent you "should" be able to prove it. Simple as that. Perhaps outsiders should have the opportunity to an appeal, but right now that law does not exist and you are guilty and will be brought to Justice.

C. Arson and Damaging of property
Anyone who through fire or any other means, intentionally or unintentionally, damages the property of the town, an individual or a group commits a crime under the law. To encourage caution with fire, even unintentional cases of property damaging will be punished with fines. The minimum fine is 25 silvers but there is no upper limit.

Jorokar, that's a ridiculous principle. "It's alright if the laws could blatantly be used for corruptions because I'm not going to do so". So what would happen if you DID start to do these things in a twist of fate, or a new governor kept the same laws and did these things? It's a stupid law and, regardless of whether or not you're personally going to abuse it, it should be changed as a matter of principle.

Have you ever been a guard Master Elderberry? I walk the streets each day and there are people that mock the government and perform acts that walk on thin ice of breaking a law. Each day a fine upstanding citizen, visitor, or resident is harassed by these incompetent people. People that generally just go about their everyday lives bringing in revenue and trade to this fine city always have to worry about idiots such as Chris disturbing their work. The simple fact of the matter is the town guard has to be strict to maintain peace and order. Why dont you help us if you are such a man of principle? It easy to stay at a distance and call criticisms to the actions of others. It is another thing entirely to respond to a tense situation and always have the fear looming over your head that someone will shout CORRUPTION or INJUSTICE! As long as I follow the laws and procedures of Trolls Bane to the best of my ability no slander or malice shall overtake me. Once again a system for an appeal for non-citizens or residents might be a solid option but right now it just isnt on the books.

No I do not use "law" and "principle" as synonyms perhaps you misread my writings. Sound principle "should" dictate the laws in which we live by. However, this is a Salkamaerian philosophy and does not always transcend other ethnic viewpoints. For instance as Callith pointed out the strong will rule the weak and in that instance, principle might not have a thing to do with law. Though it can be argued that Troll's Bane has a more Lightfolk influence, as the governor is an elected official of the people and can also be removed by the people. I am a man guided by principle, like any other, and it does weigh on my conscience when upholding the law. That is why I clearly stated that perhaps outsiders "should" have the right to an appeal. With that being said I am sworn to uphold the law, protect, and serve the citizens of this town. People like Chris disturb the peace and harmony of the citizens and should be dealt with. I used the word principle once in both of my posts prior to this one and that was a question directed at Master Elderberry. All other comments were in relation to the "LAWS" Chris Rigden broke. The only analogue I made toward principle was the comment about outsiders having a right to an appeal. The "principles" of a mad-man like Chris should not even considered by decent people. He is a vandal, disturber of the peace, hot-tempered bigot, egotist, and a criminal that needs to be in jail.
