Hi guys. I'm a newbie and enjoying it so far. However I got a problem in that my character seems to walk incredibly slowly over some terrain. Is there anything I could do. Help would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Most likely it is because your character has a low agility. What you could do is avoid "heavy" terrain like forests and rocks/mountains.

you will also get slower if you are "encumbered" ...carrying too much.

Oh Right. Is there anything I can do to improve my agility. It's making exploring quite difficult.

only way to change a stat is to make a new character
