Forced RP

When I pulled a joke at the spring 'celebration', I attempted my escape, like any person would do... whilst running away some mage...( don't know who) used quite a lot of magic to try and catch me... this magic lagged up the game for me badly so I HAD to log out several times. and low behold when I log back in I find myself in a prison cell. Let me ask why I HAVE to be there when there was no roleplay involved in getting me in there, I just appeared there from being near the exit of Trollsbane.

If someone logs without actually getting away they get put in jail.

thats a load of bollocks why should that happen?

1. There was no roleplay involved from your side. You simply threw the gynk fires.
2. Tossing gynk fires in the middle of numerous people is not a 'joke'. You should have expect grave consequences.
3. When chasing, you can't really run and type can you? (or run, cast and type).
That's what I can say regarding the matter.

When throwing something I can't suddenly roleplay or I'll obviously get caught thats the whole point! and anyway I did RP I was'nt given chance to RP aswell

...well, duh! You were in the midst of a whole crowd.

Logging out while being chased or fighting is against the rules, therefore if you log out the gm will toss you in jail as if you've been caught.

Hey STFU If I'm roleplaying a teenager he does do things like this and anyway what kind of sh*t rule says he magically appears in jail from one spot to another what kind of RPG is this?
Posted: Sat Jun 21, 2008 1:24 am

You appear to be ignoring the fact that it's a rule break

Sure, I have no objection. But be responsible and expect him to be captured and jailed. If your teenager goes in the midst of a crowd with 3 or how many gynk fire bottles, then RP it. Yes you'll be spotted, but that's your teenager. You can't not roleplay because you'll be spotted.

Hmm I guess my computer listens to the rules aswell when the game lags because of constant magic using and a bad connection which I mentioned in the start of the post! and I guess the GM only listened to your side of the story

Yeah and imagine how often that is used as an excuse by people who log, it has been for years. You logged out while being chased therefore you were caught, suck it up.

Ok so you expect this to happen. You throw the gynk fire, someone gives chase. You log out, you appear again, you run away. You log out again, you appear again, you log out again, you appear again.
And you DON'T think that something like that appears a tiny bit suspicious?
What were they supposed to do? Wait for you each time, then ask you to walk to the cell (and you log out again, and in again)?

Yeah Borine pulls this crap always, logging out if he either is chased or near death..right?

one thing i would have to add. Chris had a large head start
as probablythe only char who had any idea what was going on i was walking towards him and once i saw himthrowthe first fire i also saw nobody react right away until the second one hit and he was runing
he had a large head start and somethign as nebulous as lag shouldn't used as some ecuse why the chasers magically caught up to him
butthose are simply my 2 coppers

Where are you going to hide with so many people chasing you? This is like throwing a bomb at a picnic of policemen. You think your getting away?

Wouldn't there be like... people injured and stuff? They wouldn't be the exactly fast, but there is a standard to what happens. If you log out while being in a chase, you are generally tossed into a jail. You could have explained what happened to a GM, and they reconsider what happened.
Since you posted on here, I will assume you did not message a gm about what was going on, and you were assumed to be abusing the system and thus jailed.

Mister Borine I can assure you jail is not that bad. You will get out in a couple of days then you can have a nice hard rep. Soon you can be on your way to being a hardened criminal and elevate yourself to murder or become a notorious outlaw. Its all in the RP cards... how do you make the best out of your current situation. The best way is to RP it out. It is not the end of the world that now that you are in jail. Make a rp thread of the times you are in jail, brooding your time until you get out. Hell I will even come visit you in jail to rp with you if you send me a pm when you will be ig. Simple fact if you know your computer sucks and kicks/lags you, be prepared to go to jail.
Like one of the posts above me says just !gm (explain situation). Don't make a topic about it. Make the best out of it. Perhaps I will make a character to get put into prison and we can be cell mates!? what do you think?

I'd like to know where he got the 3 bottles.
If it was three, and if they came from another character (Maybe controlled by same PO), then that's another rulebreak.
You see, Chester "very" recently gave exactly "three" bottles to a different character, and showed him how to use them. The fact that "three" were 'used' by a character who I assume to be 'new' (Chris) seems coincidental, and worries me.
Coincidence? I think not.
Care to answer 'Borine'?

Erm..
Julius sold Christopher the bottles (10 to be exact). Can we lay off the guy, aye? He's not that far from being a n00bie to rp. I love the way every time someone does something someone doesn't like ig and it goes to the boards that person is instantly flamed, declared the next coming of Satan, and barred from the community. When I first started Illarion I logged from fights. So what? There are plenty that posted here that have done it to. Are they in jail? Nope.
Can the flame stop here?

Coincidental indeed, "Chester," but I assure you that I am not Borine. I still have the three bottles of Gynk fire and shall bring them with me when we meet on Sunday to prove my case. If you still have doubts after that then I'm certain a GM can confirm that this "Chris" and my Witherwald have no connection whatsoever.

Fixed.
I wonder what will happen if people find out IG that you supplied the 'terrorist' with weapons

There is a spell that slows down and petrifies the target.
That is no "lag" that comes from spells, but a wanted effect, and it's especialy good for catching people who are running away.
If they log out to try getting rid of the effect (which lasts quite short anyhow), that is definitely a rule break.
People behaving like this are usually imprisoned and then spoken to by a GM, and if they prove not to understand the game rules at all (or not wanting to), or insist on arguing these rules or why they should not apply to themselves, a good old some-weeks-account ban has still convinced many.
Permanent bans or char deletions are usually only handed out to those who insist on swearing and insulting game, players and/or GMs, so if you behave and learn that game rules also count for you, you have nothing to fear.

Actually Damien I've sometimes been kicked by the client when someone was casting too many spells near me. And not on me.
If you heard a short 'scream' before it started lagging, it means it was the paralysis spell.

Very nice of you. But starting a thread of your own to whine in was perfectally allright.
I think with that you just alienated the people who were trying to reason with you.
