Has the alchemy skill been removed from the game? I can't find anyplace the mortar creates anything but dyes...

Yes it has as far as I know.

Older chars still have the skill listed but can't make any potions... the ability to make has been removed.

The skill is disabled. Some still have it, but its completly useless.
