Gobaith or Gobiath?

Post by Frederick D'Aubigne »

I've seen a thread around the boards, but now I can't find it anymore, besides, it never really gave an answer.

Is it Gobaith or Gobiath? I see Gobiath on the map, on the website, but everyone says Gobaith.. Is it a typo I'm inadvertently copying?

Since it's an image now, it will probably need to be redone from scratch or something similar...I guess.

Needs a bit above the A, and the surrounding parchment around the I is a bit too light compared to the parchment around the forest. *Fixes*

Gobaith, sounds nice when pronounced "Goba - yith" (the 'a' like in 'anti'...the 'i' like in 'in' lol) (to me, at least).

But anyway, the name was chosen long time ago, and...a bit off topic I guess.

Lol...change topic to "How do you pronounce Gobaith?".

Eh, that pronounciation doesn't sound too nice for me >.>

I like to pronounce it Gobiath but will try to spell it Gobaith if this is official.

:D I always thought like: No way, they would never leave such a typo on an official map.

Huh? Your post was misleading.

It spells 'Gobiath' on the map. And it should be 'Gobaith'.

I thought everyone else was just making a typo when they said "Gobaith".

And as for the pronounciation "GO-BATHE"... wow.

Player1: Wow, look a this place! What's it called?
Player2: GO-BATHE!
Player1: #me looks offended, then smells himself, "I didn't think it was THAT bad..."

I always pronounced it "Go-bayth" with the "AY"making the same sound as "EYE". I guess that's aquired from making my foreign language subject either Latin or Spanish?

It's Gobaith. Go-bay-eth (though you can pronounce it any which way you want, its the freedom of creativity). It was voted best in the contest for which name the island should be called out of like 6 possible choices.
