The wind was blowing Sou'east by east, and the ship "Revenge" was clawing toward Gobiath's Docks on the starboard tack. The crew were moving up the ratlines smoothly, mechanically as if a well-oiled machine.
The Captain stood on the Quarterdeck, eyeing the motion of wind and wave with a discerning eye.
"How long have I been away", the Captain thought.
He remembered how he had last sailed from Greenbriar in the "Ghost", never to see Gobiath until now. He remembered how his ship had been caught in a Gale off of Salkemar, and upon dusk after the storm subsided, the ship was beset by a pirate more treacherous than him. The fighting was hard and bloody, and before he knew it, the "Ghost" was set ablaze. He and his men redoubled their efforts to repel boarders, but were soon overrun. He then heard a splintering crash and a darkness overcame him. He must have been knocked overboard when the spar fell upon him, because he remembered falling, slowly, through the water as if in a dream.
When he awoke, he found himself within a city, but unlike any he had seen before. The walls were Teal and blue, covered in shells and corals. He was lying within a bed of sponges, and there was a fish dinner on the coral table next to him. He moved to eat, and a 'door' opened, in which his attendant, a female lizard entered and spoke to him.
She spoke of the battle above and many lives lost. He was the only survivor of the "Ghost", now at the bottom of the sea. Henry looked confused and said, "Why did you save my life?"
The lizard smiled and simply shrugged and said, "Goddess knows, it is unusual, but we sensed a kindred spirit within you."
Henry was shocked. He thought "after all I had done, hatin' these fish-eaters, why would they save me?" It was then that he remembered tales his father had told him, of his mother.
His Father would say, "She came from the sea, bright as an angel. Her voice was like a whisper of kisses on the wind, and I knew I was in love with her. We met so very briefly, loved, and she was gone by morning. However some time after that, I found you on the shore and raised you like my own son."
Henry realized his anger at "Fish-eater's" must have been because of being abandoned by his Mother. He was starting to think inwardly........
Maybe........
Nah...........
He scowled, pushed the food away and punched the female lizard. With his large calloused hands, he grabbed her neck and made her tell him the way to the surface, which she promptly did,
before he just as promptly broke her neck.
"Damn Fish-eater's!" He scowled as he made his stealthy escape from their city.
Upon reaching the surface, he swam to shore only 1/2 mile distant and came upon a fishing village.
A few broken necks, and pummeled victims later, he had taken a fishing Longboat and set out for sea. Making his way along the shore, he came across a merchant caravel. Seeking an opportunity, he pulled alongside, impersonating a fisherman selling his wares. When he climbed aboard, he spied that the crew was small, and they were unawares. As he was displaying some trout, he suddenly flung the trout at the Captain of the vessel, knocking him to the deck before he turned on the First Mate, shoving some salmon at him. The crew were not expecting a fisherman to go 'mad' like this, so before they were aware, Henry already had a dirk at the Captain's side with a grin.
"I'm Captain now!" He yelled, as he shoved the dirk into the Captain's heart. "Now Man the sails, lively now or I'll cut your Gizzards and feed them to the fishes!" The crew sprang to action and unfured the sails. Henry then set course for Gobiath to replenish or replace his crew. After all, he may be a few hands short, by the time he gets there.

As Henry's ship neared the docks, he saw they were devoid of people.
"Damn their eyes!" swore Henry.
"Weigh Anchor!" he bellowed, and the crew responded, furling the Mainsheets and dropping the anchor.
"Fetch a lighter!" he ordered, and a longboat was heaved overside and made ready.
"Guess I'm gonna have to press some bodies into service," Henry thought glumly as he entered the boat with some of the crew.
The longboat then rowed for shore.
