Just another day..

Post by Ayla »

[Closed RP]

Things, recently, had gotten far too confusing. Simply put, Ayla didn't know what to think about anything. Maybe... she had been drinking too
much lately. Something was causing her to feel all lightheaded.

Ignoring that strange sensation, she quietly walks off the dock, glancing back to the small boat that had taken her to the tiny island. An odd, very happy smile touches her lips before again she turns away, looking straight ahead before continuing on her way.

Where she would go next, Ayla really didn't know. The most obvious place for her would be the tavern. She couldn't go off and hunt those skeletons in the forest, not with her right wrist still being broken. And nowhere else in Bane seemed any fun. With a quiet sigh, Ayla directs herself down the street, glancing to Samantha's house as she walks by.

Instead of walking around the hospital and past the library, Ayla found herself walking right through, jumping over that small stream passing by the tavern. Stopping for a moment to look about her, she realizes that for now, the tavern sounds fairly empty.

The smile still on her lips, she walks up to the tavern door, reaching out with her left hand and turning the handle, letting the door swing open. With a quick glance around, Ayla walks in, the door closing behind her. Stopping, she lets her gaze shift slowly over the place before a single word is uttered.

Empty...

With a quiet mumble, Ayla walks through the usual rows of chairs, glancing to Borgate, who is slowly dozing off, a dirty mug at his side and a rag dangling loosely in his hand. Chuckling at the sight of the dwarf, Ayla continues by as quietly as possible. Instead of taking a seat at the bar or on the hard, rough wooden chairs, she settles down in the more comfortable chairs by the fire. Her gaze, as usual, is caught by the alluring dance of the fire. Why Borgate always has a fire going, even in the summer, Ayla knew not. But when time comes that she simply needs to think, she finds the seats and the fire always a good place to allow one's mind its freedom.

Ayla leans back against the back of the chair, her left hand absentmindedly picking at the cloth wrapping her other arm, glancing to the white material occasionally. It was painfully clear that her mind was on other things, however, by the strange, content look on her face as she sits there. Closing her eyes slowly and tilting her head back, Ayla allows herself to be immersed in her musings.

Allan walks slowly into the tavern, returning from a brief walk around town. As soon as he enters the building he catches sight of the elfess sitting near the fire. A small smile forms on his lips as he recognizes her from a previous encounter. He did not know her name, but he still seemed strangely drawn to her. Not in a romantic way as far as he could tell but still drawn to her nevertheless.

"Why hello there miss"

He proceeds to sit next to her carefully and takes out a bottle of beer, offering her a drink from it.

Jorokar had just finished from hours work. He wiped the sweat off his forehead, and sat astride on the chair by the workshop, exhaling loudly out of fatigue. His head rested against the wall, and his eyes closed, time to relax a bit.

It only took a few seconds before his thoughts quickly went to the last day. Happiness, excitement, anxiety, fears, those were all the sorts of feelings he had at that very moment, yes, he remembered it perfectly, the image was clear in his mind. He had no doubts anymore, he was sure about it, and all that was left were some mere words. He knew though that the more he cared for and the more he felt attached to the person, the harder he would have found it to speak. But finally he did, and left him with a clear emotion of delight and satisfaction.

A content smile now appeared upon the lips of the daydreaming man, sighing happily as he stirs away from the dream. He stood up then, and headed towards the tavern, as it was the perfect place after work.

Even though he was pleased with the last day, he still felt a small extent of jealousy as soon as he spotted the man sitting beside Ayla near the fireplace. That man was a new face, and the times Jorokar had saw him, he was always with the elfess. He couldn't control this feeling, and he just paused by the doorframe, silently watching the two with curiosity.

Ayla had been completely submerged in thoughts of the day before, a somewhat shy smile on her face as she sits before the fire, now burning low. It had been too perfect, really, and so… unexpected. Yet she hadn’t had the chance to tell him that her feelings were the same. This realization sent a very faint frown upon her brow, the smile slowly disappearing. Perhaps… she would get the chance too eventually.

She was pulled from her musings with a start as a slightly familiar voice sounds beside her. Opening her eyes quickly, Ayla looks to the man standing slightly behind her. At his greetings, she does no more than nod to him, gaze following his movements as he takes a seat.

She remains silent as he pulls out the bottle of beer. Hesitating, Ayla tries to decide if it would be worth drinking yet again. It felt to her that she had been accepting beer a little freely these past few days. Sighing quietly, Ayla shakes her head, refusing a drink. Looking back to the fire, she purses her lips before finally deciding to say her own greetings.

Greetings, sir. It seems I’ve been seeing you about quite often, here lately.

She chuckles quietly before letting her voice fade, not bothering to say more. Her eyes hold a very contented, warm glint in them as she sits there, again letting the flames catch her attention.

Due to her mind being elsewhere, she didn’t realize that they had another visitor, one Ayla would be much more willing to talk too. And, in not noticing him, she also didn’t notice the faint jealousy upon his face. Shifting slightly in the chair, Ayla again sighs, this time in utter contentment, eyes once again closing and head tilting back.

Allan shrugs slightly and takes a drink from the bottle of beer. He sits there silently for a moment before speaking.

"My name is Allan by the way..So what is your name miss? I never had the chance to learn it"

Allan looks to the elfess, waiting for her reply without noticing the other man.

Still standing by the doorway with a serious expression, Jorokar shook his head, then muttered to himself:

“Stop this, Jorokar. She’ll hate it. There’s nothing wrong anyway.”

He reassured himself by letting his thoughts wonder to the last day again, and that quickly made him regain the smile he had carried. He took a deep breath then, and made slow steps towards the fire place, his eyes mostly directed at the stranger, but once his hands rested on the backrest of the free chair, he offered Ayla a soft smile.

Having heard the man’s query, he took the time for her to respond, before greeting the two and nodding once to them.

“Greetings there.”

He went round the chair and sat down lazily, his legs wide apart, and his stare always fixed towards the other two.

She was reluctant to once again open her eyes, hesitating for a moment as the man’s voice meets her ears once again. She considered for a moment not to even bother looking to him, but for some reason, that didn’t seem ‘polite’. Lifting her head slowly and opening her eyes, Ayla watches the flames once more before letting her gaze drift to the man that had just introduced himself as Allan. With a quick nod of her head, Ayla opened her mouth to reply when something to her side caught her attention.

Glancing to the empty chair beside her, Ayla looks to the hands resting there before letting her gaze fall on the face of the person standing next to her. She blinks, as if surprised to see Jorokar standing there before letting a slow, almost timid smile touch her lips. She says nothing to him, though, looking back to Allan. She hesitates again before continuing on with the introductions.

Ahh, a pleasure to finally know you, Allan. My name is Ayla. And he’s Jorokar.

She lets her smile widen, motioning quickly to the man now seated beside her. Her gaze remains on Allan for only a moment longer before shifting to Jorokar, an oddly shy look in her eyes.

And greetings to you.

She lets her sentence trail off, her gaze shifting once more to the flames, though not really seeing them before her. It seemed... strange. For once, Ayla had no absolute idea what to say to the man beside her. Shifting slightly in the chair, her gaze flicks from between Jorokar and Allan as she stays silent. Besides, it didn’t make it any better. There was a strange, underlying sense of tension as she sat there. Or so, it seemed to Ayla. She knew that Jorokar had a habit of getting jealous, and she had already once pushed her luck due to this other man. The night in the tavern slowly circulated in her mind, making a very faint grimace appear on her face for only a short moment.

But, nevermind. Sitting straighter, she looked to the two men, asking them both a casual question.

Well, how have you two been today?

Hoping that the rather troublesome sense of tension would dissolve at her question, she again let her gaze shift from between the two, waiting for them to answer.

Usually it was Ayla who sensed that something was wrong in Jorokar, but this time, he had perceived her eccentric feeling, and this surprised him. If that meant any good or bad, he did not know. He felt he was still kept in the shadows of her feelings, and this provoked some minor doubts in his thoughts. The smile faded away, and his confused stare roused towards the fire.

Was it too early? For some reason, that’s what he feared most. Perhaps it was because of his past, but that didn’t matter. He started to feel her same tension in himself, and he wanted to break it as much as she did. He writhed a bit on the chair, as his hands lied on the armrests rigidly.

He was lost on what to say now, and he hated it. It was the last thing he wanted, to have to ‘think’ on what to say. But he soon relaxed from this stress as soon as she inquired. He twisted his head to face Ayla as soon as a smile showed itself again on his lips, not a false one. He spoke in a rather casual voice.

“Pretty good I must say.”

A short pause and a light shrug followed his words.

“Didn’t do much actually, just some hours work, nothing else.”

He eyed the other man momentarily as his smile persists, then asking himself, though the questioned seemed to be directed more to the elfess.

“And how about you?”

She had noticed it, as if it had been lit up with some sort of spotlight. As Ayla’s gaze rested on Jorokar, she could see his restlessness, see that it wasn’t just ‘her’ that felt the tension. And this realization made her very uneasy.

She lets her gaze shift to the floor for a moment, a frown on her brow before again she looks up to Jorokar, a questioning look in her eyes. Then, her gaze drops to his hands, sighing quietly before letting her hand rest on his, trying to reassure him of whatever bothered the man.

At his questions, she relaxes as the casualness is taken into note. However, she doesn’t remove her hand from his, returning the slight smile he offers before speaking.

I’m getting lazy, I suppose. I’ve done not but sit around here.

She then turns her attention to Allan, giving him a questioning look as she absentmindedly leans towards Jorokar.

And you?

An eyebrow is raised in curiosity as she quietly moves her hand, lacing her fingers with Jorokar’s, feeling a bit awkward for apparently ignoring the other man. Letting the silence spread between them, Ayla contents herself by leaning back against the chair, gaze lazily shifting about the tavern as her left hand remains in Jorokars, the other, wrapped hand absentmindedly fumbling with her emerald necklace, as habit permits when her thoughts are elsewhere.
