How to connect to IRC.

There's been many tutorials spread around on account Rasteel Olin, so I'll just post it here, where everyone can see it, and where it wont die in the off-topic since it seems on many occasions that illarionites need to re-unite on IRC.

This tutorial will let you connect through IRC with the client mIRC that you can get at http://www.mirc.com/get.html

Once you've got the program and installed it and opened, click on Continue (to continue, duh) then close any windows that open inside the program. (Normally, a window titled mIRC Options should open, close it, along with anything else that might open)

Now on the top bar, under the 'File', 'View', etc.. there are a few icons. First one is an electricity bolt, second is A folder with a hammer near it. Click that one. The mIRC Options window will open (Yeah, I know. I asked you to close it, so just in case some other window opens too, you don't get confused.)

Now on the list to the left, select Connect and expand it (by pressing on the small + if it's not already expanded)

Fill in the forms..
e.g:

Full Name: Paul Jeopardy (You can just put fake stuff here)
Email Address: Blaber@blopi.baha
Nickname: Thanrian
Alternative: Thanrian2 (If your nickname is already taken)

Now tick the Invisible Mode case and on the left list choose 'Servers' which is under the expansion of Connect.

Select whatever server you want to connect on (For #Illarion, it's Quakenet). Double-click the folder of the server and choose one inside the folder by also double-clicking it. You'll be sent back to the first page.

Now click connect to server, and enjoy!

P.S: If you're getting error messages (Ports, trojans, etc..) just google for the error and you'll find a few tutorials on how to fix it.

Using Chatzilla

Chatzilla is an extension for firefox to use IRC

To use it, First install it.

Then Tools > Chatzilla

Follow the stuff you need to put in (nickname)

It should tell you , avalable networks are....

Click on Quakenet

wait until it connects

then type in /join #illarion

press enter. you will join

If you need to change the nickname, use the big button on the left
