Dragon?

Post by Kurga Wolfbane »

I found a dragon's lair.

Is there supposed to be a dragon in it?

do you want there to be?

i'll be happy to play the part of the dragon that eats the orc that walks into it's cave.

but no i don't think they'd leave that particular monster laying around anywhere just yet, though it would be awesome.

I think a permanent Dragon there for parties to kill would be a good addition to the game, just like the stone golem. These things are usually too powerful for one warrior to kill and really takes a party of characters to bring them down.

We could use a few more 'party' level creatures around the dark places of Gobiath. It may even be fun for groups to 'quest' after these creatures. I heard there are demons, but haven't found them yet.

If we place there is dragon you should know:

1. Dragon is much stronger then a stone golem
2. Dragon can fire strong fireballs over long distance - a few of those fireballs are deadly
3. Dragons can breath fire in short range that creates some fire flames on the ground and can turn a nice area into a ocean of fire with in a few seconds - those breathes hit multiple characters and are become deadly pretty fast.
4. Dragons can bite. And such a dragon bite hurts, be sure ;)

So better say faaaaaar away from Dragons.

I wouldn't be interested in fighting one, but was wondering if they were still around. It had been awhile since one flew over Trolls Bane, but I may have just missed hearing of it.

What is the use of monsters that are not used ingame for they are too dangerous even for a party of well skilled heroes...?

 Dragon spawn, way to go. As long as the dragon does not respawn every five minutes, nice addition to the game.

They are not too dangerous. But i don't like the idea for random characters running around saying "Oh yeah. Dragons. I kill 5 every day."

Kurga, exploring around is nyce, but you don't have to ask questions and stuff regarding whats supposed to be and what's not to be

Find out ingame about certain things...

And, perhaps put in some fire-resistant armor/shield or something, to give people a chance? ;)

Just my opinion, but I think a Powerful dragon only a party of experienced warriors can kill would be a good goal for warriors to go for.

I think it should also drop a sizable treasure too, maybe 20-30 silvers? Or even Gold Treasures and Magic Weapons/Armors.

I think this is justified because I have heard:
1) Experienced Goldsmiths make diamond rings some have sold for 60 silvers each.

2) Experienced Smiths sell high quality armors for up to 30-40 silvers not to mention the magic weapons!

3) Experience Carpenters sell Magic wands for 15-20 slvers each.

So why can't experienced fighters also profit from the ultimate goal of killing a dragon? Especially if they have to divide it amongst a party. I think having an 'ultimate' goal for fighters is good and makes it more on par with other professions.

You obviously have a very small idea of the material cost involved; in how much they must buy, the many failures, and the many bad examples they get before they get these ones they can sell for 30 silver.

Does a warrior of high experience risk less? How much do they have to spend in armor, potions, weapons and time before they become good enough just to defeat a red skeleton?

I think they are equal 'costs' to any craftsman.

I think that dragons should remain quest "monsters" with some intelligence behind them, if you know what I mean.

I disagree. For fighters, perhaps 20-30 silver before they defeat reds (skaalib has perhaps spent 20; he is not quite there). For smiths, the ore they must buy/mine would equal about 200 silver (skaalib has spent perhaps 70 or 80 upwards, and not nearly there) before they can make good salkamaerian officers. (these are just rough guesses, I dont actually know).

do you play, or do you do business? that everything you "invest" has to pay off?

and even so, with a little patience and less powergaming you could at least save on the costs for potions.
potions are necessary only, if you try to attack what is stronger than your char.
