William looked at the diamond thoughtfully.
"Is there something special about this?", he wondered.
He thought about his encounter with "The Merchant". For he had been observing him somehow. He had known many details about William that barely anyone, if noone else knew. How was this? And then he had sold him a freshly cut diamond for 30 coppers, before leaving, proclaiming that he would stay in touch. Who was he?

Walking toward the fireplace in the tavern, after overhearing the man mention a ring, Kaila introduced herself and was told to just call him "the Merchant". He looked in his bag briefly where she saw a glint of diamond, but ignoring it she asked him if he knew anything about Lady Meryadeles' ring that was lost. "No, but tell her I wish to talk to her, I can get the ring for her."
