Here are a few rules you should really follow.

- Always SIGN, or add /Unsigned/ at the end of the message.
- NEVER use emoticons.. Seriously.. like : :) :( :o  , it's pathetic

I'll add some more later, feel free to do so too.

Never EVER address someone by their forum name, or if they sign "unsigned" don't look at their forum name and reply "Well, [their name]" because that's poor rp. VERY poor rp. If you see ~Unsigned~ your character doesn't know who it's from. So stop looking at forum names, it sucks. I've had to pm 8 people about this.

I think there should be some kind of feature, that allows you to mask even your forum name.
Such as posting using the account name 'guest', or 'anonymous'...

if there is permission to post without needing an account...you can log out and then post in the rpg section...forum name will be "guest" i think

Edit: nope, they need to change permissions. but anyway, letting people post without needing an account will increase the spambots i think

Exactly, I mean this feature should be activated,
I know that would mean more newbies posting crap, but heh, deleting replies is just 2 clicks away.

It'd also mean you couldn't edit or delete your posts, and it'd be hard to keep up with anyone who breaks rules on a guest account, or you could pose as someone else. Too many difficulties.

Can't edit; In real life you couldn't "edit" written parchments, you had to scratch over them and pin a new note.
And no, it's not hard keeping track of who posts and rulebreakers, moderators can see the posters' I.P.

And you can post as someone else, yes, so? That's one of the principal points.

Yeah, you can't edit rulebreaks you've made, the GMS have to go to the bother of checking your ip, you can't pm people who do some crappy rp cos you don't know who they are etc. etc.

Spambots thrive on guest posting.

I must add that the thought of Gobaith's many citizens writing long thought-out letters and them attaching them to what must become incredibly long parchments posted on the town walls has always seemed a bit silly to me.

I'm not sure if it can be done or not, but a new forum name called anon could be set up that all players knew the password for, that would elude the bots. However, just like ooc, the avatar of the poster should be ignored anyway for good RPers.

What bugs me to no end it the necessity for having multiple boardaccounts for each one of your characters, all requiring a new e-mail adresses..

It would be swell if you could decide to post in RP/guild section as "Anon".. (but still visble to mods) in order to keep your other characters secret, without the need of creating yet another hotmailaccount which you are going to forget about soon anyways..

Then make one more account called "Unknown" or "Un|\|0wn" or "An0nymous" or "Shad0ws" or something noone will have and sign up for a free email somewhere quickly like hotmail, accept it, use your normal password and there you have it. 2 accounts, one general account, one anonymous account that noone knows who the po is except the gms. Not difficult. If you have more than 1 anonymous character, use it. I honestly don't see the need to keep characters anonymous ooc. If anyone makes something of it, !gm them for using ooc information. The only reason I'd make another account would be to hide which po I am, and that's easily done on 1 account, so basically it's no big deal.

i have more than one forum account. (the Nordmark-account)
but, that is something for schoolkids or unemployed.
you have to:
1) look up more than one account for PMs.
2) look after the writing style, you use.

in short: it is time consuming.

I thought about creating an account called "Anonymous" and give the pass. to all, but I'm sure some dumb ass will change the password just to annoy us

it would be a good idea. i think an administrator must keep an eye on the account, and change the password again if it was changed...a little more work though :(

Of course. Then when someone forgets theirs, they're screwed.

Personally I despise when people write 'unsigned' on their posts, and would rather never see it again.

It seems fair enough to assume that a post without a signature isn't signed. What bothers me the most is that when you write 'unsigned' it's a signature itself. I don't believe I've ever seen a real anonymous posting that was suffixed with 'unknown'.

No actually, the 'unsigned' part isn't really "written" on the parchment, I consider it as a little OOC note that our character purposely doesn't want to sign, it's not that we, the POs, forgot to sign it.
So I guess it should be:
(( Unsigned ))
