A suggestion extravaganza!!!
This is a series of interlinked suggestions. They're probably hard work and won't be implemented, but I have hope. So here it is:
First of all: creatures.
Not just creatures. The ablility to ride creatures. There would be an assortion of rideable creatures; but to be able to ride, they would have to be tame. Horses might be much more agile than you, the larger creatures you could ride at a normal speed even when you have a lot of goods, flying creatures you could ride over bodies of water (to an extent. e.g. the GM castle would be out of bounds). Some creatures would be tame already, or if you had a stable you could buy them tame. Others could be tamed with music.
Point 2: Music.
In order to tame animals, you will need the correct instrument, the correct song and decent skill. Creatures could be tamed to ride or to do your bidding e.g. you could instruct a skeleton to clear your path through the graveyard. A group of creatures e.g. trolls could be tamed with a horn, perhaps. But you'd have to learn the songs from songstones.
Point 3: Songstones
Throughout Gobaith there would be secret stones to learn new songs. They would be found at the start and end of temples.
Point 4: Temples
Every rune would have a temple. Irundar could be the temple of LHOR for instance. At every temple opening there would be a song that a bard would need to play to open the door/way. There would be puzzles and monsters, encouraging teams of people: e.g. mage/fighter/bard to go down there. At the end of each temple would be something for everyone. For the bard: A stone with a song. e.g. in the temple of RA you would gain the song of dragons, which could tame them to your will. There would be an altar which would magically charge a weapon. e.g. "bastard sword of ra", "Serinjah sword of lhor", "Drow blade of luk". You would need a specific weapon in some cases, but a depot would be at the end of each and a description/riddle of the weapon you would need. e.g. for a poisoned dagger you'd need to get a dagger and go to the temple of yeg. To power a drow blade you could go to the temple of luk. To give a staff healing properties you could go to the temple of mes etc. etc. and also the mage could charge his rune. A charged rune would use less mana when a spell using it is cast. There would also be something for a craftsman e.g. a special, rare material for his work. The product of which could be sold for a lot, or certain weapons could only be made with it. The entrance to luk could be in the graveyard, ra at the volcano on Briar, hept at the top of the tallest mountain, cun near the sea etc. all in appropriate places. Each would require a group to go, as it would need the raw power. e.g. in the kel temple he may need to teleport across some water and pull a switch to activate a bridge. Everyone would gain something and it would encourage skill raising to be done in teams, with lots of roleplay rather than individually powergaming, and mages and fighters could get alone because they would need each other. Temples would be very hard to find, so it wouldn't just be a case of who's the most powerful group. At the end of each there could even be a large "boss"-type monster which you would need to defeat to advance, and there would be means to return to the temple entrance from the end. When complete, the temple would be reset by a gm for whoever comes next. If there was commotion in town and a group of people acting shifty, someone could follow them, spy on them, let them defeat the monsters and finish the puzzles and then get whatever they need at the end. Everyone would have a chance to get something they want and maybe ooc people will stop flaming the other classes, as they want each other at their optimum so they can progress through the temples more easily.
And now for the immortal line: Discuss.

I) This is very hard work, and I'm sure they have enough to do for now... I have a similar suggestion which i'll post later.
II) Skeletons are MINDLESS, how do you intend on taming THAT? I don't lyke the idea in general... try singing to a dog and see if he stops mauling you
III) Erm... no
IV) This i lyke, as a sort of DnD dungeon, you gather a party and you need everyone's skill. I lyke it, if you pull it out and use it seperatly

To ride animals would be a great idea and really nice. But it means that they need to draw the graphics for each race and both genders riding an animal which I believe will really take much time.
And why do you need music to tame animals? Maybe it could help but i don't think it should be a must.
Point 4...too lazy to read it

It would be nice just to have horses to ride that would walk at just a slightly faster pace then a person could walk and be able to carry an extra bag (would help traders, miners, etc.). As far as taming, music possibly or even a new skill? There could also be leather items added to be made, saddles and halters for some and the farmers could sell their grain to feed the horses. All this if possible to make the graphics.abcfantasy wrote:To ride animals would be a great idea and really nice. I could go for having mounts and mounted fighting. You could make a whole new set of skills devoted to horsemanship or what ever you want to call it. You have to be so good to ride certian animals, and there could be a new skill for fighting while mounted.
I understand that this would take a while to impliment, but it would be pretty cool in the end.

Oh yeah! And you should tame the skellies by beating them up, and trolls you have to dope up with sibanac, and you have to feed bits of Avalyon to ogres to tame them, and feed Edward beer to tame himAlexRose wrote:For strongest and smartest maybe.

I like the idea of horses, but carts would be a great idea:
1) People, carpenters and smiths and lumberjacks would be required to make carts, promoting trade and craft
2) Would mean faster method of getting about for 1-4 people without portal, and would help distinguish rich from poor
3)Would cause a profession of coachman, which would drive there own carts as a service for people, these would in turn interact with stable people in order to buy tame animals
4)If you could attach a small depot to a cart, it could be used as a trading device, so that large shipments could be brought a long way quickly and without multiple journies, at an added price.
Just my explanation on how this would help the community and economy.

my only real suggestion would be the possibility of techniques. drop a panel that would hold buttons like here...

each button would be a technique that can be taught by a gm or player knowing the technique already much like how magic was done with teachers and runes. The point to these would be to add a little spice to combat for example while combat is engaged you could click "shield bash" and if holding a shield it would throw some extra damage in there going off the parry skill. I figure this could work with numerous skills such as wrestling by having techniques that stun or knock down an opponent along with a nice #me message with all techniques. If water is ever made accessible I also think the technique panel would be a good place to stick a "dive" button to transport to an underwater cell. *caugh lizardmen only."sneak" and "pickpocket" I could also see working here. Anyways please don’t hound me over this if the idea blows it was just something I was thinkin on.

Okay, in all seriousness
1) Who needs an assortment? I really think horses are just fine. This is not, nor will it ever be, world of warcraft.
2) Music is already in the game. Animals if trainable, should be trained the old fashioned way of DOING
3) This isent even lore correct.
4) This is just pointless, Gods have temples, Runes are for spells.
Also,
Most of this can be done with the current staff, they are indeed fucking with you, unfortunately, they have much better things to test, design, and implement then zelda/uo cloned features.
