Friends,
I thought you might enjoy to read a letter I recieved that was transcribed of an old Orc's memories of our town. I certainly enjoyed it.

Greebas Mayor,
Last we met, you asked about a detailed bit of history that can be drawn from Grunith's mind. Grunith has taken some extra time to iron out the grammar in this document and provided it for your usage to publish within your walls. Notice that not all of the details of the past come from Grunith's mind, as he has only seen so much in certain years of the past. For you to better understand Grunith's situation, Grunith will tell you about the early days of the island when he arrived.
Years ago, Grunith arrive on a relatively lawless island of Gobaith. Grunith remembers the exact date upon his arrival in the newly constructed harbor. It was in the 9th year since the arrival of the first inhabitants of Troll's Bane, and in the month of Chos on day 22.
Barriers of guilds and groups in those days were seperate from one another, and during the duration of the next few years, prominant guilds from the past came together to form Lyrenzia. It was around that time when a group of halflings called the Evergreens came together and came up with the plan to find a new home for all their kind to enjoy their peace away from the main struggles of mainland Gobaith.
Even in those times, wars waged from epic scales to small-scale quarrels between individuals. Things were hectic at best in those times. Lyrenzia sought to establish some sense of order in the anarchist town of Troll's Bane, and in a sense, they did. But their powers were not enough to hold together forever. Their rise and fall is another story, but I am not going to go into details of this at this time.
Concerning the evergreen halflings. I roughly remember a few of the halflings you mentioned in the manuscripts you discovered a few months back. I can not give you specific dates, but I will try to give you years in which some events transpired.
The Evergreen halflings were first known by another name - The Hobbiteers - and were established roughly around the time of the 8th year. Crosis Smallburrow was the founder of the group, and over time, many halflings came to their cause of establishing a lasting community for the halflings. It was their first and only attempt which successfully united the halflings to a cause. For a time, they were based in Troll's Bane, and eventually as Lyrenzia was formed roughly a year or so later in year 9 or year 10, they began to move independently away from Lyrenzia.
Plans in year 9 for a halfling village were well underway. All active members of the time put forth an effort of collecting much needed supplies and resources for crafters at the time to auction off in a grand auction to increase ingots (the currency at the time) to help pay for buildings they would eventually build. Things like Mana potions, wood, herbs, food, and other things were gathered together and were eventually sold. Grunith can not quite recall the total amount they made.
Near the end of year 9, the hobbiteers joined the newly found Lyrenzia foundation. Crosis Smallburrow was the councilor who represented the guild in Lyrenzia, as Lyrenzia at the time was a governing body of prominant guilds in Troll's Bane. There were no other cities at this time which allowed others to move away from Troll's Bane, thusly, The Hobbiteers were a quickly growing guild of halflings. The only other settlement at the time was the vile place of Northerot with Lord Darlok ruling over it. Few wanted to move there with him ruling over the land save brigands, outlaws, and beings filled with malice. Northerot in those days was the Temple of today.
The Hobbiteers, in the same year, decided amongst themselves to change their name from the former to The Evergreen Halflings. They thought this name more fitting to their cause, and it would prove worthy for the memory over time in many years to come.
In the eleventh year of the island's history since the founding of Troll's Bane, work for the constructing a dyke across a small bay of water to connect Briar with the rest of Gobaith went underway. The halflings of the time worked hard, and drugs the stones using logs of wood closer towards the building site (where the bridge now resides). The stones were drug from the mountains east of Troll's Bane and through the city then all the way out the other side and aong the path past the harbor. It was a long way for them to go.
Near the latter months of the 11th year, the halflings finished the city of Greenbriar, and for a time they were left to themselves. The rest of their history includes living peacefully in Greenbriar and secluded from the rest of Gobaith. Grunith believes they held no great part in the events of the Northerot wars, which lasted many years and is yet again another story. But over time, their story began to slowly dwindle and come to an end.
The last few known members of the city in it's final days of decline were as follows.
Council - Brendan Mason, Ezorock Roughfoot, Hermie.
Members - Burlow Boinclod, Molbo Flourfern, Rosa Smallburrow, Toby Ripplewater.
Apparently, Grunith believes that many of them just migrated away, but the true reason as to the faltering of the guild is unclear to me. He heeded no attention to this guild in their ailing days. Maybe you can find further reasoning amongst others in the land that seem to come and go.
In the 13th year, all records that might be found indicate no further activity amongst the Evergreen Halflings. You now reside in that which they founded. Grunith hopes that this history has helped you some, although he would haven ot written it had you not said for payment. Grunith will come visit you some time to ask how you liked the history.
On a side note, Grunith has a human scholar over look his grammar mistakes in writing, and had just decided to have a scholar write this for him. He does not write this well!
Grunith will be coming to see you soon.
Farebba,
Grunith Shuth.
