Proposal about crafts / Attaining raw materials

Hello,
I realised there are different procedures to get different kinds of raw materials, for example you have to use an axe, then select the tree you want to chop manually before chopping.
Or you have to use scissors, then select a sheep manually which can be very tedious as they're moving aswell.
Or you have to use a shovel on sand to get the sand you want.
On the other hand, processes like mining and smelting are fairly easy:
USE a pickaxe while facing a mineable rock - works, saves time, doesnt make your hand go "ouch!" after the first 100 ores (and you need a lot more than that number of raw materials in all crafts to become anywhere good).
So I want to ask if this kind of process ( Just use the tool necessary while facing the object you want to use it upon), can be implemented not only for mining but also for lumberjacking, sheep sheering, and sand digging (maybe I missed some things that could be made easier aswell).
This would greatly raise the fun for those, not being smiths or miners as they do not have to move their mouse through the whole screen over and over again to get their raw materials and encourage people more to pick up other crafts (Ever seen a glassblower recently?).
Thanks for reading
