The Rebellion

Post by Silo »

The Rebellion see's the errors in it's tactics in the past and will now, under new leadership, continue to fight this war more orginized and honorably. Our new leadership does not need to be known finally by anyone that does not fly under it's banner, just know that I will be one of the three new leaders.

It is a precarious and dangerous thing to speak for everyone.

There are those that despite disagreeing with the actions of a person, can still care for the person himself.

We rebel those that oppose Stephen Rothman. We rebel those that have jailed him for no reason but of personal spite. We rebel against those that think they have the right to take over Trolls Bane, and call themselves Governor. You must understand what is happening. All of you are being decieved for personal gain. Stephen has done no wrong here. Silverbrand declared war on him, so he replied with an attack. it was merely coincidence there was a prayer, if there was one at all. Besides, how is he to know of dwarven affairs? You must all realize, Stephen is not the true enemy! He is not the one we must fight, it is Negros! Stephen has strengthened the town, welcomed newcomers warmly, helping them wherever he could. When I joined the guard, he helped train me, and gave me the supplies I needed. Then there was when I saw him in battle. Seeing how loyal he was to the town, how willing to give his life for it told me he was not a dictator. He has shown great loyalty, and you all reject him. You all say he was working against the town, and then jailed him with no proven wrong?! Stephen is innocent, but he remains in jail! Is this right?! How do you, people of Gobiath, allow clear wrong to happen infront of you?! Prove to me what wrong Stephen has done, and I will believe you! Solid proof, something that tells me exactly what he was doing! If you simply tell me what he did, I will reply to you what the reason for it was! He has done only good for you, and you show the opposite to him! He was willing to give his life for Trolls Bane, and you all ally with bandits to overthrow him?! Tell me, what has he done wrong???!!! Why is he jailed for no reason???!!!

Tahlian, I believe in Stephen and his words, I believe he is a good man but this 'rebbelion' isn't going to solve anything. You can not take such things by force, not anymore. This will only put Stephen in an even worse light, and if you suceed in freeing him or whatever, then what? People won't look at Stephen like the man he truely is. If you are going to solve this, solve it with words and honorable deeds, not force.
I have fought quite alot under Stephen, and I am still loyal to him.
I do not see how this would make things any better, we have all been trying to tell the people about Stephen, and why he did the things he did.
Have you not seen? The public will not listen this way!

I admit that Stephen Rothman did some good things for Troll's Bane, but in the end he was driven by hunger for power! Attacking Silberbrand to build an "empire" while there are two far greater dangers - Negros and the Cult - was just stupid and careless!
And don't forget: Stephen made himself the "Governor"...

The dwarves declareds war on trollsbanes. If he hads arrived wid his men 30 minutes befer er after he dids then none ob dis crap would ob happened. Juss because he happened ter arrive during a temple nub means he should wait fer dem to finish. De dwarves were juss as much a threat as Negros.

Through dis time I hab been supporting Galthran, but I was juss only followin de current voice telling Ku whub ter do. Nub more! After reading ober Ku's own thoughts I realise dat I made mistakes. Stephen dids eberything fer Ku, infact I was guard fer a single day befer de horde made me leave.

De only thing dat is goings ter happen is Samantha gettings de title as Govenoress oomie, which nub one wants. Ku and Phillippe talks ter Sam and after nub answering any questions at alls she tells Ku that she will talks ter Phillippe when der is 'no interrupting orc arounds.' She is twice as ebils as Negros because she is more power hungries den twelve Stephens who accualy gaves damn about seeing a town grow.

And on a finals note, we nub taking things by force. Dat why we going ter get rid of Grant's power- He is nubbin but a fault in er plans. If he goes round and kidnaps halflers and mutilates innocents den how are we goings ter get good name? We are nub a 'rebellions' as we are a Political Group. As much as peoples round here deserves axe ter head we wills be using polls, public speaches, and notes on de wall ter reconvince de people ob trollsbane.

Inded, Ku is very correct. We have used no force, and we do not plan on doing so, unless absloutely needed. What Grant did is what Grant did, we were not a part of it. If you truly wish Stephen Rothman getting next to no food, getting beaten, for no reasons but your dislike for him, you should be very ashamed. And yet, you call me ignorant for not seeing the wrong he has done. Tell me what he has done, and I will tell you why it was *not* wrong.

Lady Siltaris,
If he did attack you with another then does he not deserve a trial that he established in Trolls Bane? Why has he been jailed without trial or chance to defend himself verbally?

There are more reasons for his jailing. The most important ones are written down on the proclamation of the Alliance:
- Attacking those praying to their god and still claiming himself to be pious and loyal to Malachin.
- Planning to takeover all of the island and opress not only the dwarves but all towns, races and communities alike.
- Accusing Lady Lamar to side with the bandit Galthran then allign with him himself, hypocrisy at its best.
- Murder of Siltaris

His followers remain blind to pretty much anything that they have done to be considered wrong, they are just brainwashed fools that have nothing better to do. He tried to play politics in every other town, while neglecting the people of Trollsbane, irresponsible is probably the most positive word that can be said here.

But Lady Siltaris, those praying had already declared war on Trolls Bane. How can you say it is illegal of him to attack the people whom declared war on him?
And how do you know his plan was to take over the entire island? Numerous times it was read that he had no intention of claiming the rest of the island.
I was not aware hypocrisy was illegal? And it is not hypocrisy as you are misleading people, something I have read often in your words. He did not allign with Galthran, that would imply they were on even grounds. He placed Galthran below him as servant to him, which can be read there, but again, hypocrisy is illegal?
And again, that murder is up to question, inwhich a trial should be held and not killing him over and holding him in jail for it.

I am not on Mister Rothman's side, but I do tend to cry out when a good man is being humiliated and harmed because people simply don't like him and then will go so far as to ensure he is not freed or given a trial for his supposed crimes.

Point one-
Yes, this was a mistake. However, it was an honest -mistake-. It was purely coincidence that the prayer meeting was going on at the same time. Also, the only person who attacked within the temple itself was reprimanded for doing so.

Point two-
This is blatantly false, and founded purely on fear and rumor. He acted against *one* town who declared war on him, and immediately everyone thinks he plans to take over the entire island.

Point three-
His entire 'accusation' there was simply that everyone accused -him- of allying with the temple and with bandits, then turned around and did the same thing themselves the moment they had the opportunity. She has since said it was only to keep an eye on Galthran, and that may be true; but they have condemned him for saying much the same. I think this issue should be thrown out by BOTH sides, since it is only leading to pointless squabbling.

Point four-
There are justifications for both sides of this argument. But this is no basis for an indefinite jailing or even talk of execution! If anyone else cut someone down in this nature, they would be banned or jail for a few days or even weeks, but not indefinitely, and certainly there would be no discussion of execution!

In short-
I can see justification for a period of jailing. A few days or weeks; maybe even a month or two. But NOT indefinite, and CERTAINLY not execution. There is already a vote underway for a new Governor of Troll's Bane; Silverbrand is in the hands of the dwarves again. Any continued harrassment of Stephen Rothman is now into the realm of simple cruelty and personal vengeance, which has no place in politics.

There is witnessed and documented proof on the exact nature of his former alliance with the cultists. Only a circle of a few people has however access to this.
Anyhow, there is also other material that may show that this alliance was founded on the basement of the cultists making him believe that they were harmless. Which may be considered as mildering, as well as the fact that he declared the cult as illegal after finding out that they were not as harmless as they stated.

Nalzaxx: Greetings there Mister Rothman
Governor Stephen Rothman: I will assume you are from the temple of Bjolmur?
Nalzaxx: That is correct yes...I am Novice Nalzaxx. I represent the better interests of the temple when our mistress cannot be here. This....is Retlak. I hope you don't mind, but I feel safer travelling with a bodyguard.
Governor Stephen Rothman: As you know and probably suspect, I am putting my neck quite far out to keep you safe from Samantha and her warriors.
Nalzaxx: Indeed, and it is most appreciated by the temple
Governor Stephen Rothman: I do not believe it right to kill beings because of their beliefs.
Nalzaxx: Samantha is of the kind...that sees any action differing to her own is a threat, regardless of the danger they pose.
Governor Stephen Rothman: So tell me, what are the intentions of the temple?
Nalzaxx: They are rather transparent really, as are the intentions of any temple...to serve our Goddess and to reach higher levels of understanding. Our members are not inherently evil....most are infact neutral in character, but taken to our mistresses arms because of circumstance outside their power.
Governor Stephen Rothman: Trolls Bane does not wish a war with the temple, and we will remain tolerant of your beliefs so long as the temple and it's members do not harm or cause trouble in trolls bane.
Nalzaxx: Of course, it has never been our intention to harm the town of Trollsbane. If some of our...lesser members bring it upon themselves to cause trouble within your walls, then take a personal apology from me for their actions.
Governor Stephen Rothman: And what shall be done to them?
Nalzaxx: We will chastise them and punish them appropriately, but please remember, unlike I am sure is rumoured, we do not own their souls, they are still in control of their own actions, and so our control of them, is just as limited as is your control of your guards.
Governor Stephen Rothman: Donations from the temple are accepted and go a long way to convince people of your peaceful intentions. Many are swayed by Samantha's and Damien's words of what evil and danger you are.
Nalzaxx: Indeed, as with many mages, they grow proud, and fear that which is not like them
Governor Stephen Rothman: What will the temple do when Samantha and Silverbrand come marching to burn down your halls?
Nalzaxx: We will attempt to allay them peacefully of course, but naturally, if it comes to it, we are not unprepared to defend ourselves
Governor Stephen Rothman: What powers do you hold?
Nalzaxx: As you can see, we hold deep knowledge of the arts of necromancy. We have a number of skilled warriors and mages amongst our kind.
Governor Stephen Rothman: I assume you are not willing to give me a roster?
Nalzaxx: No, that would be...foolhardy to say the least.
Governor Stephen Rothman: I would not know why, but you have a freedom to privacy.
Nalzaxx: Though I trust your own intentions....should Samantha take hold of such a list.
Governor Stephen Rothman: Understandable. But remember, I have written if she attacks anyone in town, she will be thrown i njail. And if she escapes jail, as I assume she will, she will be put down.
Nalzaxx: Of course, your support is appreciated, though I would prefer to err on the side of caution for the time being.
Governor Stephen Rothman: Samantha knows of where your temple is, you realize.
Nalzaxx: Indeed, though she does not weild the power to penetrate it.
Governor Stephen Rothman: There are rumors, spreads by Samantha naturally, that Salkamerian Paladins are coming to destroy you ... and burn down the city of trolls bane.
Governor Stephen Rothman: Can your Temple give us aid?
Nalzaxx: If the Paladins threaten the isle and your town, we will naturally aid you all we are able.
Governor Stephen Rothman: Very good.
Nalzaxx: It is only fair...that we defend your interests as you defend ours.
Governor Stephen Rothman: If you can keep all your members in line, if they can behave as Gra'able did last night, there will be no motivation from anyone besides Samantha and a few others to war with you.
Nalzaxx: Wonderful, then we will go our ways in peace, and deal with the magi should she become a threat.
Governor Stephen Rothman: Occasionally donations, the ones who can help fend of monsters do. You need good representation.
If this is the alliance you speak of Damien, I cannot see how Mister Rothman could possibly be in the wrong. What he did wrong, you read all of it and it reads as a leader of a town interested in his town benefiting and avoiding any bloodshed, I was not aware a leader should act any differently?

It holds many informations, but can be either a positive or a negative weight for Stephen Rothman.
We will have to find out.

The reasons for his jailing above have to be seen in sum, not each on its own. And as i already have stated, there are more than these reasons which prove that he is is a danger for Troll's Bane and Gobiath and thus not allowed to rule nor act on this island any more, until the trial decided about his future.

The Alliance will dispense justice soon.
