an introduction suggestion

Post by deerant »

Hello, I’m new to Illarion and I can say I was searching for a game like this. My account did not get approved yet but I am optimistic about that.

I write because I have a suggestion. I read that in order to know someone’s name you have to introduce with him. I really liked that but what if I want to lie about my name? I read also that in the beginning unknown others were shown as “someone” but now a number was added. I can understand the necessity of this as anyone has to be able to report other players.

I thought something else. I guess the server sends information to the client about everything including players (not a wild guess). I guess/hope that every player has a unique ID number. So to my proposal. Let’s say I, named Ed meet an other char named Bob. My client gets Bob’s ID, lets say p1321 and bob’s client gets my ID lets say p1331. Now my client shows Bob’s name as “someone”. Let’s say that Bob says that his name is Bob. Then I can have the option to rename “someone” with the ID p1321 (which I do not see) to Bob, so every time I see him my client names him Bob. I, on the other hand, say that my name is Peter. Bob’s player repeating the process will name me and identify me as Peter. Now if I want to report Bob, there should be an option for that that will get from server a report ID that will be a reference to ID p1321. I will see the report ID which is not constant and I will be able to report guys with that but no identify them.

Then a disguise system could be implanted among with a kit and a skill. The higher the skill of the disguised and the lower the perception of the observer the better the chances not to get detected.

So, what do you think of all these?

PS I’m not sure if this is the right forum.

It could be in the newbie but i don't think it matters but the system doesn't work like that. When you haven't met someone it will say Someone then id number. When you get to talking you usally introdice with #i which will tell you his name. So instead of id number and someone whne you push f12 it will be his name.

As for this part of your proposal, it's already implemented since ages ;)

Type "!name [char number] [desired name]" without any brackets or "s.

That's really nice! :)

A little search made me believe there is not much that can help someone to disguise himself. Am I wrong? Is there anything planned regarding this?

Hmm maybe somethign that could bew done is that if you # i and then put a name in front of it, youll intoroduce like that, so that way OOC and IC knowledge wont mix, like:
