Chasing again

I am tired of begin unable to chase anything. Today i tryied to chase, Retlak, some dwarf, yesterday gorge, gort, etc. I CANT catch anyone, we run same speed, and its easier to flee. Ask PO stephen about it. The fact is, agility does NOT give speed, not on grassland and roads. Everyone runs the same exact speed, the only thing that can change speed is overweight and lag. I had suggested being a bit slower when hurt, but it seemed like no one liked this. The only thing i see then, is speed would depend on many more things. Like agility, weight(more precise), wearing, constitution, strenght, food etc. Im sure youll be thinking"what the heck strenght and constitution has to do with that" Let me explain, constitution is endurance, so logically it makes the character gets tired more slowly. As Strenght, an armor seems heavier for a child than an experienced fighter, when you run with something heavy, the stronger you are the easier it is. I know it could be hard to program, but moving, when we think about it, is a really important thing of the game, everyone does, all the time. This would fix all of the chasing problems, and with all that maybe my other suggestion would be good. Yes, heavy warriors would be slower than a light warrior with the same stats, strenght would reduce the handicap of speed due to wearing and carrying though. And so bad shaped peoples wont be running off sprints andn ever be catched.

Edit: Formula

Agility + food bar + healt - (cloches weight/strenght) = Running speed

Constitution + food bar - (carrying weight/strenght) = Endurance (time to get exausted)

consider yourself lucky. I have 20 agility, (messed up I know) and due to my slow computer, eveyrone is faster than me. I didn't stand a chance against that lizard who killed me. even on grass and the street.

but I do agree, something should change. I say that your agility should affect you even on the street and grass. right now I only see a differance on mountain and woods.

its caused problems. but also there was paralisis spells to pwn warriors back in the old old client. ah well, i dont like this much at all, but i find most people will fight til they die or as salathe write in the last thread, you can always catch up to who you chase.

Arameh was catching up with Ret pretty good! hitting him as we went, but Arameh the silly sausage walked into a wall so i could escape. no problems i see.

It is damn annoying when you jail someone who attacks and killed other chars and the next day he breaks out. like with a portal someone casts for him beside the jailwall so that it opens inside.

Jailing has no purpose. the orcs die and come back from cross, or go into jail and break out the next day. you can do nothing *sighs*

Im not moaning, im making a suggestion  . In old client, i could possible catch up with someone with difficulty, but right now, i tryied a lot, and i really cant, like CANT IMPOSSIBLE NEVER. I think my suggestion is logic, and has no big flaws, maybe just hard to program. As for the RP, sadly Cliu, youre the ONLY player ive seen that RP get tired and fall, no one wants to die, so when they get chased they just run, run, run until we cant see them and log out.

jailing is nice, if Stephen or someone were to put a bit more coin into them, you could have improved jails for risky criminals. I think it's fun escaping! makes the game more fun for crimanals. and adds to realism. but you have to admit, the bad guys are the under dogs, they need the help, due to there lack of allies.

Blast you Poots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't you let them figure things out on their own?

Can't you guys just serve your jail sentence?

It is not that bad, and you can actually have fun RP'ing in jail.

The problem is you guys (the players) are far too worried about getting out of jail and causing more problems. I am sure your characters would eventually sit in jail for a bit and come up with a plan other than the same old crap that keeps getting them thrown in jail.

But hey, maybe that is just me thinking everyone should play fair and not use technical/game advantages for themselves and not to slowly destroy the RP enviorment.

Finally you agree  But accually using a portal in a jail isent bad RP, a portal is like a portable mage spell. Not are faults people like magic so much

 sorry gort, I edited it, not many saw.

I think it would be fun rping in jail...if anyone came around to the jail.

don't pull the same trick twice guys. if your thrown in jail, try new ways of getting out, or even staying. not saying you have or anything, but it would start to be really dumb if you used a portal every time you were sent to jail. I could think of a list of way to get out.

portals arn'et bad rp, like gort said. but don't be using that trick every single time your thrown in there.

Or just have some luck like I did with my last char....have the doors somehow open everytime you logg in....or the pillar in front of your jail cell magicly dissapears.....err they got annoyed.

It is exploiting a game flaw. It completely negates the entire purpose of the jail and you know. You know damned well that is not what the game designers intended when they built the jail and made the magic portals.

You are abusing a cheap ass trick you figured out. MAture a little and realize what you are doing is wrong and completely horrid RP.

Also the "imaginary guards" would prevent anyone from getting close enough to cast a portal anyway.

face it. the orcs out smarted you. out smart them back

and I don't remember there being anything about guards, there should be some sort of npc at least.

 I made someone angry....ohhhh! im in for it.

And it's not exploiting anyhting, joo beh crazy. If magic works through walls then the portals are ok.

GM I command you to post your opinion!

Yeah, doors opens when server crashes i think.

magic dont works through walls. you have to see the target for any spell. and see means it has to stand INFRONT of your char.

Oh Sureeeeeeeeeeeeee...........I am sure every GM was all for letting characters break out of jail anytime they want for a mere 30 copper.

you act like your completely helpless now. theres nothing you can do. the bad guys win.

if you were to catch a simple pick-pocket or someone like that, and imprison him, he would stya in jail. if you are going to imprison a part of a mob, your asking for trouble. they have (however many people are on their side) trying to free them now. taking down organised crime wasn't meant to be easy.

they also had the lizard kill innocents aking for their freedom, so you know they're trying to do things besides "taking advantage" of elements of the game.

could we make it so when the server crashes, it's rped as a storm or something? that would be kinda cool, and make logical sense for doors opening.

I think the orcs are doing a good job rping in this war thing

Hm, let's see

-An orc that was grabbed, after going to the cross, just starts running away like nothing happened.
-Random leavings of the jail, which seems to happen every time an orc goes in, even in past problems with them (maybe it's a new racial bonus we havent learned about?)
-Horrible rampage PKing, their killing of that human (not sure the name) rivals those I saw in Tibia, and Ive actually seen a few better in Tibia.
-Random people screaming for victims rights. That's all fine, but in most medieval fantasy, all criminals would be hanging from a tree at this point.
-Also, to anyone who says Illarion isn't about fighting or skills, I think it's time to give up that facade.

-bad rp, I never saw that though.
-I thought that only happened with Retlak, and it wasn't random, they outsmarted the jailers.
-I agree, as bad guys, do more than just rampaging on killing sprees. try to do something useful, like robbing. you just look like a bunch of jerks going around killing for no reason
-true, but Ive never seen that happen (not saying it doesn't happen)
-that's what Illarion was meant to be, not what it is. and to some, it still is.
