I wanted to ask how long the old client will be useable.
Among other reasons the new client doesn't seem to work for some.

This is not a valid question.
Consider the old client to be not usable any longer.
We will not take care about the old client or people using the old client much longer. The new client is known to run on machines with VERY low standards (400 MHz, 8 MB graphics RAM, ...).
Noone should ask this question ever again.
Please read the corresponding thread on the tech-board ("importance of...").
