An Idea to the GMs
Ive heard people complain before that when there are to many people on screen it gets hard to follow any conversation. Ive noticed it with just 4 or 5 people even. A proposed solution to this: have a new #(letter) or !(letter) combo that makes it so your speech only travels say 3 or 4 tiles in any direction until you return it to normal. Perhaps it could be #q or !q to stand for speak quietly.

Okay... but we have this. It's #w. Travels 3 (as per your suggestion) tiles in any direction. As for return it to normal... you're already typing, you can't stick #w in front of your sentence?
I am sure that we as players can do some things on our own without the gms having to implement something every time you want a quieter space. Try #me whispers to the people closest so not to disturb the rest of the room. Maybe others will catch on and do the same.
How hard is it to type #w everytime though? I mean, be serious. Already you should be #me-ing actions. And living in the age we do, it takes literally half a second for any one of us to press two keys and get a whisper. We all type at least somewhat fluently, and I don't see why a gm should have to do it for us.
As for no one using the whisper unless they don't want to be heard... umm... isn't that basically your point? You don't pollute with your loud words and you don't want to hear the noise pollution going on around you? I fail to see why #w isn't good enough as it clearly stands well in its purpose and what you want of it.

It works ok. And it would work better if people used in in normal conversations when there are several (5+ for example) people around. This way you can actually follw the conversation you're in. Maybe you dont need a !q or whatever but if that was used then I think that would instigate people to use it more so as not to disrupt the rp of other people. It's not terribly important or anything of course. Just a suggested solution of a problem other people have noticed in the past. Of course, your solution of just using #w is good too. And makes less work for the gms. A !q would just be more convenient sometimes I think. And sometimes it wouldnt. But you are right that if people used #w in crowded areas it would work just as well

Id rather hear multiple conversations. Maybe something comes up that I want to RP with. Or maybe people are hurling inneundo insults about from one group to another, and at some point, want it to be heard.Jori wrote: Maybe you dont need a !q or whatever but if that was used then I think that would instigate people to use it more so as not to disrupt the rp of other people.
Or someone, with high perception feels that they are bored and will listen to all converstaions around them, then !q/#q would negate them from hearing it. #w is a whisper, which i would assume is quieter than "quiet talk" so it could still be heard by high perception chars.
First of all, of course I am right. No, I am just being full of myself for no reason. We all make mistakes.Jori wrote: But you are right that if people used #w in crowded areas it would work just as well
Second, let us hereby announce Jori's better (in my opinion, not necessarily everyone else's) idea: In a place that is crowded, people should consider using #w to speak. No one should have to do it, but it can be considered without being too painful to the player having to type #w.
And finally, Jori, I know this sounded like a gang-up, but I did not mean it to be that way. You are entitled to your opinion and suggestion. And some positive reactions IG may come from it.
yeah well what piss me off is when everyone is in the same place. Also they complain that we answer to them while they are talking in the middle of everyone and say ''its a private conversation",peoples should find more places to talk now everyone is in the castle and before this was all in the shop, well thats my opinion.
Yes youre right Arameh_ it really would be better if some People get away to the other towns. Not to ban them, just only to fill the game area.I mean, the only places where the actions happens is around Trolls Bane and sometimes in Varshikar. In my oppion that should change! But that is a issue for the community to do.
Please community concentrate the action even more on other places then Trolls Bane and Varshikar!
