"My friend, Thalodos..."

Post by Kamik Windslasher ~ »

Kamik sits on the docks and stares into the blue horizon, wondering where the ocean ended and the sky began. For a moment, he allowed the calm breeze to play with his hair. But as the wind got stronger and his cape opened, showing his secret - the Silver Hand -, he stood.
A ship to Vanima would be leaving soon and the young blue haired man paid someone to deliver a message to him. The price wasn't very cheap, since a travel to Tol Vanima was dangerous now. The rumour about the drow attack spreaded fast.
Kamik sat on a wooden box of the cargo and leaned on another to write a letter on a piece of paper. The letter was to Thalodos.

"My friend, Thalodos,

I wish I had good news to deliver in this letter, but, as you may have noticed by your city, the news aren't good.
As I sensed something was wrong in Vanima, I got there as fast as I could. And there were really two drows, which I fought with comrads and killed.
Men were following the Dark Ones, probably through mind control. But the powers of the Drow are a mystery to me.
There was an elf there, he told us the attackers were at the library searching for a certain book.
I managed to get this book, from the leader drow. I fought him myself, Thalodos, and killed him with my own metal and blade.
However, I couldn't understand a word from the book, but I knew it was important, or else the drows wouldn't be searching for it. So I decided to search for you.
But that elf... the one that sent us downstairs, he asked to have a look on the book. He said he could understand it. And, somehow - since he was an elf and was in Vanima -, I trusted him.

A terrible mistake, as I see now.

I guided the elf into your forests, into a clearance in the woods and handed him the book. Thalodos, I saw it with my own eyes, the elf changing shape. It was as if he was always like that but our eyes saw otherwise. He got the book in his hands and then I noticed how big his hands were. His skin was slimy green and he had many eyes and horns. It looked like a demon, Thalodos. I've seen many bad things in my little life time, but this was surely the worse.
He cast a flame wall and runned. We went after him only to fall in his portal trap. After that, we lost his sight... and the book.
I am writing merely because I have no idea what that book could countain that would interest drows and demons, so I suppose it isn't something one should lose like I did. And for that, I will agree if your decision is to drop our contract and remove me from the Tinechor Soldier.
However, if that is your choice, I will have to charge my payment for what I did, and although I have failed, no one was hurt today.

Sincerely,

Kamik Windslasher"

Kamik folds the paper four times and hands it to his messenger, hoping that the letter will get to it's destiny...
