A sacrifice

Post by Lady Arynne »

Arynne Halfmoon's eyes bore straight into Dravish's, as he sliced the dagger across her palm. She stood still at the altar, not making one sound, but her eyes gave him all the message that she needed to give...

"More! Take all of her blood! Do it, Dravish!" the lich demanded

"Choose another, not Arynne.." Dravish said quietly

"Take her blood! Take it!"

With a deep, long look into her eyes, Dravish raised the dagger high and plunged it into her heart.

With only a deep gaze as her farewell, Arynne fell to the ground, her blood staining the sand.

"Eternal love forever," Dravish whispered, as her frame went cold.

And Arynne Halfmoon was dead.

Arynne's blood poured into every crevice of the altar.

The altar began to fade, as did Arynne's life.

The altar vanished, and became manifest in the real-world, accompanied by Drakhen's gloating and laughter.

Unaware of what form the altar has taken, the townspeople begin their search...

Aokan watched the death of Arynne behind closed bars. The similarity struck him, he had read this somewhere else. As Drakhen watched the sacrifice, after many reprieves, Aokan leaned in. He whispered half mockingly and the other half agreement "I suppose she has less will than Dyluck did." She watch her die as the other prisoners begged her not to, but it was too late. Dravish dug the blade in deeply and her body fell limp.

Gil'Dran gets teleported out of the arena where Drahken had teleported him into to spill his blood

He watches as the lich draws Arynne into the arena and he gets frightened. Pure afraidness was growing within him

As Dravish walked towards her, his eyes began to burn with hatred and he slammed his huge, muscular body against the bars keeping them from entering.

"Leave her alone, Lich!"

He screams as she gets the dagger plunged into her
He starts hitting the bars and then feels himself being teleported back to the pillar

"YOU WONT GET AWAY WITH THIS LICH!! DO YOU HEAR ME?!?"
He runs long.. He runs into the forrest.. He is going to train to become strong and better than any other fighter ever known.. He has a new goal...

Caitlin burried her face in the pillow. It was wet already. "Arynne,... Arynne", she whispers quietly to herself.
Why Arynne?
Why had this to happen anyway. And why weren't she able to help her.

Caitlin thought of the first meeting of Arynne, she remembered her smile, her voice, her scent, her eyes. A wonderful elfess, a pure heart with a strong connection to nature.
Caitlin knew in the very first moment that Arynne would be a wonderful druid.
Arynne.

"How, you gods, tell me how we shall bear this all. All this darkness and sadness. The pain is so much in contrast to your blessings. I don't ask for myself; you gifted me with something that means everything to me. But what of the others? Arynne, my daughter, my fiance, my son, Aristeaus and his wife, the town, the island. So much darkness, ... so much."

Caitlin swallowed hard as the lot of tears made her unable to continue. She stiffles a sob in the pillow as she remembers a certain moment at the last druid meeting.

"Many people get injured or... die because of the current happenings, but I beg you, never lose your courage. Then because though barely anyone sees it, we... the druids and medicos.. are holding this island together. We are trying to heal...
Not only the nature or the wounds of people... but also the wounds of their souls.
We druids and medicos are fighting also.. but we not fighting with weapons... We are fighting against a might which is stronger than every blade could be.
But it's worth this fight. Every day I can cast a smile on someones face I won ...
And that is what is giving me my strength: The knowledge, that I helped someone... and though, it's just a smile... I was able to turn the world into a better place , even just a heartbeat long."

"The feeling when you fail to help...How do you heal that, Caitlin?"

"Arynne... I guess, that's the fear we all bear... that we fail... fail to help... Never forget that we are mortals... we are not perfect, and how hard it may be, we have to accept that we fail sometimes.
And never forget that death is a part of living... it's a circulation. Everything that is born, will die someday and it's not the end.
Your cousin, Arynne, ... She is smiling upon you right now.
For she knows that you are brave, and that she loves you"

Caitlin sobs once more and turns to the other side of the bed. Her heart was heavy and the illness didn't make it easier for her. She looked slowly to the ceiling.

"I hope you are smiling on me..."
