I can't see anything - the screen's blank

When I get on, where the streets and houses and shops and stuff is supposed to be, all I see is black. I see a hand pointing to a red outline of a square. and I can't see anything. At all. besides the hand and square. my inventory and where my equipment should be is there, but nothing else. I could see people chatting but no one could help me. HELP!

You must Unzip all files in one Folder.
Perhaps some fiels are damaged, try to download the client new.

Is there blackness everywhere, or only when you enter the city? (i.e. have you been outdoors in the wilderness and have been able to play?)

If there is blackness everywhere, read the marked section of the download page.
If there is blackness only in the city, then your graphics card could have too less memory or the computer is too slow (haven't happened yet, so I would appreciate the technical data).
