Fishing - Unoffical time waster of Cappy - Fish Thread
Ok, if there is more fish then what im suggesting, please mention it.
It has come to my attention Fishing is the most useless craft in the game. But why? Shouldent it be so that fishing atleast has a decent money making use? Way back when there were Fish Mongers who could fetch a pretty penny. Even a vendor who would buy Salman at 1 copper each would be great. I mean, they do eat right? I remember Eliza saying: "#me takes a small fish out of her bag and eats it" - Wouldent she like some nice trout? They sit there all day and do noting but talk. Im sure they'd apprecieate it if someone brought them lunch.
On that, i will go to another topic. There are only two types of fish. Trout, and Salmon. I would personaly take the time to do research on other types of fish. Besides that, Salmon are a River Fish, and yet one could sit on a dock and catch them on an ocean. Wouldent it be possible to make another tile, make it the same graphics, and replace the ocean tiles with these new ones, that allow the capture of ocean fish? It would also be neat if there were Lobster Pots. To catch.. Lobsters! And mabey even the occasional Crab.
Going into more detial, you could buy a ticket to go on a boat ride. Which would allow you to go onto the docks and take you onto a boat, this could make it so even deeper fish, like the bass, into the society of Illarion. But even better, if people are lucky, mabey some Low-Quallity boots could float onto your hook.

Bluegills
Cappy's "Level" Rating:fishresource.com wrote: Bluegills are mainly found in lakes, in the same fishing habitat as largemouth bass. Slow-moving rivers, vegetated ponds and creek pools are also likely bluegill domains. Often feeding in shallows near the surface during the spring and spawning season, bluegills move into deeper waters when the water temperature rises in the summer.
In deeper lakes, look for the biggest fish in deep water (over 30 feet deep) in schools over soft clay or mud.
---------
Big bluegills average from one to three pounds, and the largest on record weighed four pounds twelve ounces.

Black Bullhead (catfish)
Cappys "Level" Rating:fishresourse.com wrote: Black bullheads (icatalurus melas) are small bottom-feeders able to withstand the most extreme muddy, polluted, and dry lake conditions. In very oxygen-deprived bodies of water, bullheads will surface and breathe the direct air. Bullheads usually weigh less than three pounds, but the largest known bullhead weighed over eight pounds.

This is Illarion though. Things aren't always going to be the same as reality. For instance I haven't yet met a real Elf yet. So they don't need to have exact details on certain fish but could, if they wanted, make their own. A boat would be a good idea though. Carpenters and smiths would work together to make good sized boats and then sell them at high prices so that a group of people would be more likely to afford them, thus making sure that not everyone can just buy or build a boat and go off on their own. Although I think there are some islands restricted for GM use only which they don't want people getting to.
Anyway, a lot of implementing to do there as it is, and they're already working on the new magic system, plus the priest and bard (afaik) skills so it would be a long way off before anything would happen. Still, I think it's something good for future reference.

Cappys "level" Rating:Fishresource.com wrote: The King carp may reach lengths of five feet and weigh up to 80 lbs. Carp are formidable fighters and commonly weigh more than twenty pounds, but the average river and lake carp weigh 2 to 5 pounds. Commercial catches approach weights of one hundred pounds, and some records cite catches of 50-75 plus pounds.

Largemouth Bass
Cappy's "Level" Rating:fishresource.com wrote: Measured from gill to tail, the northern largemouth has from approximately fifty-nine to sixty-eight scales in the lateral line, while the southern largemouth has approximately sixty-nine to seventy-three scales.
In general, 6 pounds - 12 pounds.

Perch
Cappy's Level Rating:Extensive stocking of the yellow perch (perca flavescens) has increased the fish's range in rivers, lakes, streams and ponds. On average, perch grow only two or three inches per year. Most perch are nine inches long and weigh less than one pound, but some lakes with sand-and rock bottoms produce perch that weigh over two pounds.

Great Barricuda
Cappy's "Level" Rating:destinationbelize.com wrote: Long and slender with brownish/gray/green color on top, shading to silver on sides and white on belly. Scattered spots on lower side, large mouth, sharp teeth. Found along mangrove shores and in open water. Contrary to popular notions, attacks snorkelers, swimmers and divers only rarely, usually in connection with an attempt to take a speared fish. Feeds on smaller fish. Average size in southern Belize is 7 pounds. Favorite local eating fish. Trolling and light tackle - can also be caught on the fly.
Hard
Notes:
Upon Garret's post, i belive there is a 50% chance of this sucker biting you before you can shove it into a bag.
