(i hope no-one suggested this b4)
The idea? Skills helping skills to work more effectivly
If you are a healer for example, you will learn which parts of the body are most critical to heal, where isn't so important ect...
So during a fight, you can actually use it...
So you will do more damage
or example
Yr good at swining maces, once you try mining, its (relativly) the same principle, swing at something till its destroyed..
So you will mine better
ect....

I like what you are saying, but when i first saw the term "skill helping" I thought this was about possibly skilling faster if you were with other players, skilling together. This could actually be a good idea, as it would encourage people to interact and RP together more, especially new players
As far as what you are saying goes, that kind of makes sense to me, but it seems like such a nitpicky point (as does my addendum to the idea, actually) that it doesn't seem like anything they would jump to work on, as there are a lot more critical issues still in progress (magic use, for example)

That would be a good idea.. i had thought of that one as well... however, it would be TOO open to powergaming...Furbin Peacock wrote:I like what you are saying, but when i first saw the term "skill helping" I thought this was about possibly skilling faster if you were with other players, skilling together. Maybe you gain faster but need more time to rest in between?Hadrian_Abela wrote:That would be a good idea.. i had thought of that one as well... however, it would be TOO open to powergaming...Furbin Peacock wrote:I like what you are saying, but when i first saw the term "skill helping" I thought this was about possibly skilling faster if you were with other players, skilling together. I suppose its still powergaiming...
The user isn't needed anymore and can just leave... if he chooses a mine for example, there will be times when no-one is there [so he can rest] and times when there are many people...
Better if you gain skill faster if you are doing the same thing... learning from them...

Bah, so obsessed with PG. It's the same as them sitting there now, skilling by themselves. You'd still have to shift+click every action. It's not like The Sims Online where you can put a heavy object over the arrow key so the game thinks you're still there an you just continue skilling without a keystroke... <whistles innocently>
//Edit: @Hadrian: You're one to complain about staying ontopic, my dear
That aside, it's not PG, you'd still have to point and click, it wouldn't go up on its own.

Right firstly power gameing unless some one finds a bug to exploit, "most uncommon on Illarion" is hard work. They spend the same amout of time as you do. They just do it or attempt to do it in one long sitting.
The only problem with pging is that people who are that competative tend to then abuse the skill. For example some one maxing out there combat skill and then killing the entire town guard, may cause some problems in game. Especially if they are not at all knowen and or have yet to learn to rp responsibly. Same as some one becomeing a master smith and putting Durin and Salathe out of business in a week would suck.
How ever pging is not the demon many people believe it to be I really dont see much of it in game at the moment. Even when the skill cap is not working, it seems more and more people are playing responsibly.
Rather than makeing skill gain easier, i would love to see ways that reward interaction and rp. Such as training togther does for warriors, you learn faster from a player than you do from monsters. I have how ever not thought of a way to do that yet, when i do it will be on this board.
