This is not Tibia...

Okay, maybe I'm overreacting but a recent event brought bad memories back to my mind

My char was at the mummy cave hunting for insides when an obviousely new player came down the ladder. At first he didn't even write anything, and was just eagerly drawing the daggers and swords away from my char.
He finally introduced and left quickly, but came back and continued picking up the items in a "tibia-like" manner...
This is not Tibia, thank god

and there is no need for that. Plenty of monsters for anyone and you aren't able to sell those items anyway

Well, maybe I am really overreacting, just wanted to prevent a "Tibiaisation"

Your wrong on all counts, I came back remembering you could sell those daggers for a pretty penny. And clearly my character wasnt interested in talking to someone willing to pay him 1.5 coins for insides. He isn't the one who wants to talk to a 'brute' using a war axe. And you stole the insides of the undead he killed, in a "tibia-like" manner.

--> conclusion: Your char wasn't really interested in the insides anyway. If yes, you could just have written anything. You didn't, but even gave my char a few insides.
Your char was talking to mine in fact, you can of course treat him like a brute if you want, you didn't say anything towards that though, but as I said, no offence ment, the whole situation just reminded me of Tibia and it was the first time something reminded me of Tibia for a long time...

he gave the insides in exchange for the daggers. I really am sorry, should he want to talk business while there are dozens of undead biting trying to take his life? To me, talking and being cordial in that kind of situation is tibia-like.

Actualy Illarion evolved out of Tibia, Illarion just exists because Tibia.
Because Tibia wasnt satisfying, a little group of people decided to create Illarion that would suit thier needs more then Tibia.

As far as I know.

I saw quite a few screenshots of Tibia involving some old-school Illa Characters (Alatar and Bror for example).i was happy since i didn't directly look for them but found them.

I remember when I first started playing people used to slander each other by saying "Go back to Tibia" but thwey said it in game. When I asked what it was they said it was an island, I asked how to get there and they told me ooc it was a game. I went on it once.

Reminds me on something: Durin my first days in Illarion, my very first char also claimed that she came from the island of Tibia to this world. She described Tibia as a country of outlaws, anarchy and dumb people at their worst. But to be honest, when it comes to gameplay, Illarion can learn a lot from Tibia.

Anyway, a typical Tibia log would include such things:

A: move
B: lol
A: MOVE!!!
B: fu
A: STFU bastard
B: lol

...

A: Wanna kill rats?
C: ok
A: right click that ladder

I tried to play Tibia last night when no one was on the server here. I genuinely tried to engage people in RP...I lasted about 5 minutes before I gave up in desparation and wandered around Illa by myself.

well, I think I was overreacting though...

@Raven: I'm sorry, I think I started this in a wrong way... I just think you did something wrong, because I had no idea why your chars mood jumped from "quite friendly" to "I don't want to have anything to do with you". A simple "#me looks at the waraxe with contempt" would have been enough to show me why his mood changed (if you think talking would have been bad RP)
Concerning the "mine!!!" thing

: Hardly anybody here would steal "your" loot, at least it happened to me very rarely, so there is no need for that. If somebody takes anything "your" monster dropped, just ask him/her to give it back and I'm sure 80% of the chars will do.
