Cold feet - Freeeze

Post by Odur »

After experiencing the glorious feeling of having tailored my first pair of exclusive leather shoes ever, I, naturally, felt a strong urge to wear them. But when I dragged them onto the corresponding place in the inventory window, the game (except the mouse cursor) froze; ctrlaltesc was as powerless as I. The reboot did not affect this, either; starting the game just ends up in a black screen with that cute cursor (which seems to be high level cold resistant).

I am playing on a Pentium II 350 w/64MB RAM, running Windows 98SE with DirectX 8.0a. My internet connection is not worth being mentioned. ;)

I'll try it again with a freshly downloaded version of the program in a few minutes; if there is no life sign from me within the next 15 minutes, I am probably frustrated. :)

Thanks in advance.

I think you should just try it again. Downloading a new client would make no difference. Perhaps it was only a one-time error.

I am afraid it is not. I tried it several times and the problem also occured using a different character. Maybe you could try logging in with one of those characters in order to see whether it's my configuration that produces this error?

Thanks in advance.

possible solution :
-upgrade or repair directx.
-remove character data : start with sdeleting maps, log in and try, and then same with names.dat (in your char name  sub-folder).

Better backup your names.dat, for the case it is not "injured" :o)

Neither maps nor names.dat will have any effect on the problem.
