To all The newer people
Okay, This is getting insane. I have seen 3 diffrent characters, although they might be from the same account, speaking ooc with out (()). Asking how to level up faster and so on.
I have tried to be nice, and tell em about the main page, and reading the forums. But im starting to get annoyed, especially when they dont listen.
I have even tried to show em where they messed up.
So seriously people READ BEFORE YOU PLAY. Learn what it means to be a acceptable player of this game.
Sorry for my rant, to all those that dont need to read this. And I am sorry to all those people that come into the game and play correctly, this isnt ment for you even though its says all the newer people.

I usually just mock them to bloody hell about it. I remember I sold like 60 thread to somebody and they said sweet, and I went on to explain why you don't eat thread. They took the hint. Like if they mention computer, or slang words un-medieval like, you could give them a simple #w ((your character would not know those words if he was living in the middle ages)) or something. If they don't want to listen well, sick a gm on them.

I was the person buying the thread and I didn't know that saying sweet in that context was "slang" so sorry about that. Besides of that I try to stick to roleplaying the best I can.Gro'bul wrote:I usually just mock them to bloody hell about it. But I do agree there are some situations that are realy annoying.
I'm quite new to this game but I took the time to read everything necessary, well besides the sweet thing...

But for example:
A:Can you help me, I'm new
B:Sure, what's your name?
A: Hup, my friends call me that
B:Your name is Hup?
A:Yupp
B:((no I meant your character))
A:Ooooh sry
Or...player XYZ hits player ABC in the shop, then runs like hell, inquired to stop he asks "why?" and response to why he did that "I'm new" following with an argument about "what this game is about nway" and how "Tibia is easier"...
I wonder how those people got the RP story right to get their account (I needed 2 tries myself).

I don't. There is no system that is infallible, that is an illusion. I've played on several UO shards and some other RPGs where RP is enforced, and they all used different application systems. One thing I've learned from observing them all, including Illarion, is that these application systems will not filter out all Powergamers, Cheaters, Hackers, and people who are "lacking in their RP". Why? Because these people can read and write, too.Faladron wrote:I wonder how those people got the RP story right to get their account

While a rules comprehension test sounds like a good idea, it would end up being left blank, or filled with crap. More time on the part of the player, so that they neglect the story and end up being rejected and more time for the GM rejecting the crap and accepting the good, means that this idea wouldn't do much to rectify the situation.
As Pronon says, we were all new once, so all you have to do is engage players in-game and they'll soon catch on. If they were able to pass the application, then that indicates that we saw some promise in the player.
