I'm about positive it has to be in your hand, like where a sword goes.

shift+axe+tree. I have only seen apple trees or fir trees be chopped.

that the old way....its changed....you used to be able to just shift axe then tree, when this build just came out you didtn have to have the axe in your hand. but as of tonight you have to face tthe tree and have the axe in your hand (said by messages ig) but then i still couldnt figure out how to do it.

I'd like to confirm this. It's not working any more.

Either that, or you have to
shift-click : axe + tree
about 300 times like hacking away at it irl and I was too impatient to do it that long, but I doubt that is the case.

I think you might be using the wrong trees Sian. It worked fine with me, and I have gotten both sorts of wood.

You need the good old axe to chop trees, no lumberjack axe.

@Misjbar: No, I have already done it correctly in the past since the new client, and tried the "right" trees. Maybe it's the actual axe.

@Adano: Which axe? I mean, it would make sense if it was the lumberjack axe, just judging from the name of the item. ;)

The same axe you always needed. The one called "axe" ;)

If you mean the good ol' "axe" that was always used for lumberjacking (graphically speaking, pre-wipe&old client and post-wipe&new client), which is sold by NPCs for 6 gold, then it is currently not working, or I have to do more than 30 shift-clicks to chop down a tree.

Just so you know that I'm not joking, I went in-game just before, and purposely tried out using axes that are actually weaponry. No wood can be chopped with those at all, I believe, because no sound effect plays back when you try. But with the "axe" I believe we're both speaking of (because when I use this "axe" on the tree, I hear the sound effect of chopping wood), even after 30 tries on any tree, it does not work. Thus, I think I'm correct when I say, lumberjacking does not work right now.

I have tried it as well, nothing working for me either, maybe it just takes longer to cut down a tree, but I tried like 50 times and still nothing

Lumberjacking should work now (I hope so). Take the normal axe, face the tree, don't wear no armor and don't forget to pray

while we're on it i think carpentry is bugged. i note that instead of being able to make the first two items all i can make are confier and decidious boards. this happens regardless of what type of wood i use. not only that when i made the conifer boards the choices didn't change. all there is in carpentry right now are the boards. unless i'm doing somehting wrong. and yea i've already crafted a half ton of axehandles like everyone else so i'm decently sure of hw this works.
