Hello,

I would like to join because I would like to learn how to become a druid and I'm citizen of Varshikar even though Aristeaus forgot to add my name.

I am very intested in this. I am some what accomplished in that i have some of the runes including KEL but i am in need of a bit more teaching and i have heard that this might be able to help me. I will be arround town for now but before to long i should be dwelling arround Varshikar.

I think this is a bad idea.

There will be even more mages running around than there already are. We will be getting, and it has already started, many many requests to join. Not because they wish to be a part of what we are trying to do, but because of this academy. I do not approve.

Irania,

they would try to learn it alone. I saw many new "mages" without teacher. I dont think that trying to learn alone is a good idea.

Irania has added more to the parchment.

And what makes you all think that they will not just learn and then leave? I only am thinking of possibilities. I do not want anyone using this to their own ends. I mean, we MUST make sure that this academy is not being used just because some greedy people want to learn magic or druidry. As has been written already, this is to train citizens to help keep Varshikar safe and to protect everyone who lives there. Many of these people only now wish to join because they want to be the next Athian Corulas. How many Athian clones do you want running around this island? Even he is one too many.

Thank you for your comments Ira. I understand what you are saying and this is something that I am aware of. Firstly we are not training Warloks. The emphasis is on magic/druidry and crafts, not skill at arms. Students will not be discouraged from learning weapon skill, but they will not form part of the Academy training.
Hopefully , through structured training, we will be able to weed out any who would abuse their training. Though I would say this is impossible to accomplish totally. People change. Their goals and ambitions change. We cannot change this.
However, I should point out that the training will not be easy or quick. This is not a shortcut to gaining magic skills. The Academy will not be giving anything away. Students will have to work for everything they need.
Members of the Academy will also work on tasks within the community. This should ensure that most students are genuine in their wish to belong to the Academy.
If you worry a great deal about this why not join us and add your ideas and insight to making The Academy what it should be.
All that said I appreciate and welcome all such comments and criticism. I am not perfect and this is a fledgling organisation. Hopefully it will grow and develop with the aid of such advice and interest. Thank you.

Do not mind Irania. she simply has an instinctual need to shove her foot in her mouth at least once a day. Take into account Irania that you know leanr magic, and though you lack skill that still makes you a mage. secondly as Jeremy said they are not training warlocks. The difference being theat all different magic branches have not only different techniques but different ceremonies and rituals as well as philosphies. which is why an Archmage couldn't teach someone to be a warlock, because frankly they wouldn't know what they were doing.
I agree on some points that you bring up, the actual acceptance process should be taken very seriously, and only after certain area's have been checked and rechecked should a person be allowed to begin studies. this is not meant to discourage people, this is simply meant to belay the tide of people that as said would 'use' the VMA. As to Irania's last comments. Try to keep your personal feelings out of proposals like this, especially when your opening your mouth and not knowing what your talking about. Let not have to get back into these arguments, as i said once to your sister already, you'lll not get away with every and anything just because you are sister to the lady of the land.
Regadless. good luck to Jeremy in this endeavor. and if you need any help asides from actual teaching, then feel free to contact me

Magic academy's in the past: some were good, some were not.

This might do good, since there is no current one... But more than likely will be over priced.

I still think one on one teachings is best.

of course not you Alaine. anyway to add a bit more to the subject of this new academy for Varshikar. the exact way teaching will be carried out is of some niterest to me. Jeremy is you would not mind we might talk on the subject, for though i have no intention of actual teaching i do think that strong ties to old practises help to build a good foundation if ever a magery is to be considered a worthwhile endeavor.

Well at the moment it would seem very hard for many mages to gain runes and this could be thier only way to become a mage. The one-on-one teaching doesn't work since most mages are not teachers there is such a small amount that are teachers that nearly none of those who want to get to learn magic get to...

The Castle in Varshikar is in much need of repairs.
This building would provide very good accommodation for the Academy as well as offering protection to the town. It could have good facilities for training in safety. Therefore the Academy will be aiding with the gathering of resources needed to repair the structure.
All members and prospective members are requested to gather wood, sand and iron ore. (All guidelines for gathering such resources should be strictly observed). Gold is also required. In your usual persuance of your chosen craft it would be appreciated if you could produce a few extra items for sale. The proceeds to be donated to the repair fund.
This is not an order from the Academy but will be looked upon favourably. It is in our best interests to have safe accommodation and will show great willingness to aid our town.
Thank you.

Resources collected -
- Iron ore - 452
- wood - 385
- sand - 1000
- gold - 30 / 155

Greetings, mages of Vashikar.
I have, myself, some interests in magical artifacts and enchanted items. I am not a mage, though. But I am studying a particular kind of, well, talking-blade.
I hope the Academy share the same interest as me, which I believe is true, to study this kind of items. If so, I expect to count with the help I need. Even if I can't offer much to the Academy as a payment for the help, I can take this blade of mine to you and... make it speak. It seems to know many things.

By the way, my dagger is really interested in magic too.

ps: Once I make it start to speak, I can't guarantee making it stop.

Dearest Friend Jeremy,

It has been an honor seeing you grow into quite a young man of influence since the day in which you arrived on the island. I have witnessed it from the very beginning, having met you when you were clean off the docks. You have made me proud, having started this organization to educate the people of Varshikar in the arts of Thaumaturgy and the Druidic Arts of Alchemy, Potion-Brewing, etcetera.

I wish to do whatever it is in my power to help you in your duties. The only thing that I can offer is my own knowledge, as I have studied long, even before the times when I could first cast a spell, on the theoretical aspects of Thaumaturgy.

Perhaps, also, I could convince Caitlin to help with the teaching of your druidic students. An alliance between Trollsbane's Druids of the Forest and your Varshikar Magery Academy could only be a positive thing, both for the individual organizations and the cities which they reside in or near.

Your Friend,

Moskher of Varshikar

Dominik,
We would be happy to take a look at this dagger of yours, though we do not have the experience or facilities to investigate it much at this time. It does sound like a fascinating item.

Moskher,
It is good to hear that you are back with us and recovered from your ordeal.
As always your knowledge and insight would be of great value to both myself and the Academy. Perhaps you would consider joining us and adding your experience to our young organisation. I look forward to seeing you again so we can talk more about your adventures and your studies.
Caitlins help and advice would be greatly welcomed and, as you so rightly said, an alliance with the Druids of the Forest could only be a good thing.
As to my being influential, well you only have yourself to blame for that. It is amazing what can be achieved by simply being a nuisance and getting in everyones way all the time!
I look forward to our meeting up soon.
Your friend

I find it proposterous that you propose such a thing Moskher. The druids have always been neutral, and shall remain so. I believe the ways of teaching are different with the VMA than with the druids, and the VMA would only infect the teaching the druids give, with impure loyalty to Varshikar, while the druids are to remain neutral.
I oppose this decision greatly, for the druids of the woods are some of the few who still respect ancient traditions, and methods.

Yours faithfully,

I don't know who you are, anonymous writer, but you are wrong.
It was a rule of them, to support there alliance in the case of war with material succour. So they were inclined to not be neutral, if they would have had an alliance.

Nowadays the Druids of the Forests are neutral as long as the high council decides something else.

I like the idea with an alliance with VMA, but at this point is the anonymous writer right. VMA, as the name already says, would be loyal to Varshikar, though a druid should respect, value and protect every of the natures creatures.
Nontheless I would like to meet you Jeremy and talk about that in person.

Yours respectfully,

Caitlin Fergus

A most notable achievement Jeremy
and the others who help start up this
project. I hope that it prosper, but
the fact that its loyal only to Varshikar,
leaves much to be desired.

Though this is a relief to many a mage
wanting to learn more and share their
knowledge.
