LIMITED AMOUNT OF ATTACKS - MAGICAL and NON-MAGICAL
i just had some idea - i think this would sort of solve some problems here
i suggest there are permanent stats and temporary stats
imagine being in a fight - usually you cannot carry on for as long as you feel like it - you get tired, you body would tell you at some certain stage that it cannot take the next blow from your enemy or your arm would hurt from wielding your sword. in that case your parry and or slashing would differ from the permanent stats - well, after some hard fight you would have to rest, at least you would have to do something else - i know, that lumberjacking or mining wouldn´t really help to restore the condition of your body, but at least you wouldn´t be able to be fighting most of the time.
the same could be done to mages - they get an awful headache after casting too many spells and cannot concentrate anymore, so they too have to rest, or their chance to cast a spell sinks dramatically.

about mages i have read some fantasy books and there the aprentice mages can die because they casted too many spells without resting
LIMITED AMOUNT OF ATTACKS - MAGICAL and NON-MAGICAL
hiya, i think thats a great idea =)) very realistic... well but i dont think mages should die... only get exhausted =)

The idea sounds alright, but there's a hole in it.
It doesn't give the true adventurers any chance of survival, should a group be travelling due north to battle a bunch of demons, and they may tire during the combat they will likely be slain. They could retreat with A) a large chance of being followed and hunted down by their preys and B) meet a random encounter they had not expected and be slain again.
There is a solution to this problem, and that would be an Anti-Fatigue potion. Regardless, these will then be monopolized by those who can make them, and people will stock up on them before any battle, and the situation will be just as it is now.
A suitable solution may be to penalize a character when he or she is fatiqued, not unlike it is done in Baldurs Gate, the character must then rest a sufficient amount of time before he or she is fight to fully fight again.

I like that my love, just one thing that me wonders about, perhaps if one learned the spell that they casted good enough, perhaps they wouldn't get as tired. Or perhaps everytime you attack it takes up mana(energy) and when you lose energy you get tired and cannot fight anymore until your energy refills. Just some ideas to add to yours my love

@ NeyTara:
i don´t think that you grasp that idea fully. a true adventurer isn´t packing up fights all the time - at least - that is what i think. and your suggestion to have anti-fatigue potions just tells me, that you would rather want it the way it is at the moment. i think it would add some adventurous flair, when somebody would encounter a exhausted group - the chance is very minimal i think but, hey - that group would simply have to retreat. recording to true wars or fights... these things did happen
and besides, an adventurer would be out of his mind, if he fought always to complete exhaustion - this would put him to high risk to be slain by monsters or some evil people.
@ darkend blade: the idea about mages is really good - so a apprentice mage would tire more easily than an expirienced mage - i like that - what about some NPC doctor that would take care of the battered adventurers in town - who would tend the exhausted bodies? he would have to be paid for his deeds and the more exhausted you are, the more you would have to pay - since he has to spend more time to take care of you? after all, the healing spell only closes wounds and restores blood loss. but yes, there should be some energy indicator similar to the mana pool - so ppl would know - which point of exhaustion they already reached - so with eating, drinking and resting this energy would stard to raise - but very slowly - so going to a npc doctor to be fully restored would still be, in certain cases, necessary.

Hiya again... i agree mostly to what Morgaine wrote, so only this i have to add:
there was a discussion some time ago about a food bar, which is great!! and hte same i think about an exhaustion bar... this is very realistic and would greatly improve the role play... also on one hand a potion like anti-fatigue one could be good, but not when the economy is so flat now... (i wrote more about it in the "map of illarion" thread) - its toooo easy to earn gold and but stuff now i think... so exactly... everyone could gather huge amounts of these potions - not good

I'm not saying that my pictured situation would be a common one, but it's a likely scenario. At the moment it is possible for a party to go up north to the Demon Area (exact name unknown) and fight there. Such long adventures would then be made impossible. And I said the anti-fatique potions as an initial solution, but then ruled it out and it is no longer a workable suggestion. And I don't quite agree that an adventurer would not slay a monster, I mean, there's little point in fighting if you just weaken the enemy and then retreat and rest, giving the enemy the same chance.
The mages solution appears to have no immediate, commong bug, so I think it would work.

@ Ney'Tara:
i think that i get your point fully - but as it is now - i can tell you - that morgaine can go into demons cave all by herself and play for hours with the demon and the rot worm. the only thing she needs are a couple of mana potions. barely no demon can hit her - the rot worm can but the worm dies easily in ice flames.
if this would be changed - she could lets say hold back 3 demons and that would be it - a greater party would have to go up to that place - that would be more realistic - mages would only heal or hold back monsters with their spells, while warriors kill them. a greater party, of lets say six people would be needed to go down there (2 mages and 4 warriors). this would have more flair - would be more roleplaying. people would have to try different tactics - not to get hit too many times and so forth. if there was an anti-fatigue potion - well, it would have to be very hard to get and very, very expensive. druids would find the ingredients every now and then - maybe they would have to go to very dangerous places and still have to search for quite a long time until they find what they needed. so this potion would actually be more of a rumour than an every days object of use. that way i would agree.

That seems a very nice solution, I agree
LIMITED AMOUNT OF ATTACKS - MAGICAL and NON-MAGICAL
If we were to restrict how long a person could attack without resting, shouldnt we also apply such a restriction on demons (primarily on very strong ones)?
LIMITED AMOUNT OF ATTACKS - MAGICAL and NON-MAGICAL
I don't think so, I mean, they're superhuman and therefore have alot more stanima than humans.
LIMITED AMOUNT OF ATTACKS - MAGICAL and NON-MAGICAL
Even so, demons can't have infinite stamina. I understand that most of the time this wouldn't even matter, but there are times when you may be battling a foe that takes a great deal of time to defeat, no matter how many people you have with you (of course I have yet to encounter such an enemy). I'm just planning ahead.
LIMITED AMOUNT OF ATTACKS - MAGICAL and NON-MAGICAL
I think it seems realistic, but the decline in ability would probably be quite challenging to add to the game.
