WSAETIMEDOUT
It seems I cant connect to the server, I have windows XP Pro and when I download the new client , unzip it and run the illarion MUDCLIENT I try to make a new character and I get the WSAETIMEDOUT message.
After this message I get another one that says "Maybe the server is not online or you have no internet connection" and then another one that says "Can't Connect!".
Now, I do have internet access no firewall and the servers seem to be online from the website status thing. I did my research before posting found related topics but none helped at all. I found one that could've been helpful but I dont speak German.
http://forum.illarion.org/viewtopic.php ... aetimedout
Other topics talked about a guy being banned and some other guy to download a patch to fix this. I found no patch so Im guessing it was an old ver. Please help me, I would lov to try to play Illarion since it seems to be a fun experience.

Actually, my bad is not a router but a switch so theres no firewal involved there either. Any of you guys have any idea if this might be a windows xp pro compability problem? maybe need something to fix? Any ideas? I definitely know its not a connection problem since I play mostly online games and have no probs what so ever.

the client does work using windows xp pro...
you might want to try if you can establish a telnet connection to server.illarion.org port 3008... if this doesn't work, it's definately not related to the client but to something blocking your connection to the server...
that should look something along those lines:
shivoc@optronix:~$ telnet server.illarion.org 3008
Trying 217.160.140.46...
Connected to p15106082.pureserver.info.
Escape character is '^]'.
ÌConnection closed by foreign host.
i.e. the server closing the connection instead of not being able to reach the host or not being able to establish a connection etc.

Little tutorial to that

- click start ... Run ...
- type in "cmd" and press OK
- inside the appearing black DOS box, just type the following
telnet server.illarion.org 3008
Two possible messages will appear. If it tells you not getting a connection, it is a problem with your Windows, with your internet service provider or something else client-side. But if you get a connection, and the server closes the connection, it may be that your connection is too slow, or the ping time might be too high.

Well I did as you guys told me. BTW thanks for the tutorial, was a bit confused at the beginnig..
anyway all I get is this..
╠☺
Connection to host lost.
I dunno what it means? Is it me then?
I did some research on the web it seems timed out events are caused by low ping time, but still I didnt take it into account since I havent messed with that (yet ) So I dont see a reason for such action.
) So I dont see a reason for such action.
