My first issue is with developing my carpentry skill. since i started the objects i can create have increased twice. There are still a number of items from the first increase that i still cant make however. What i want to know is, do i have to make a fishing rod to get good at making fishing rods or will making different items increase my skill to a point that i will be able to in future. I can waste a lot of wood trying to make fishing rods, harps and (that which i want) bows. I have never managed any of these. My charecters dexterity is one of his best attributes. he should have no trouble doing things others can do.
A second point is that both times ive logged on to, i have not been able to move or do anything. Are others having the same problem? is the server having a problem? Something ive noticed is that there have been larger player numbers today and my internet connection is not good. This has not caused me any problems before but could it be doing so now? i hope not, i do not want to have a continueing problem of this sort. Thanks all for any help and information on these topics.

You maybe "ran" into a lag..this happens some time. And they work on the server, like they said in the news, they wrote that the server is kina instable right now. So don't worry.
I just wanted to ask you something, did you only tried to use wood to make a fishing rod or did you have other "items" as well?
If not, here is a hint: A fishing rod doesn't only need wood to be a fishing rod, as well as a harp needs something else to be a harp.
Sorry if you knew that already, but it is the only thing I can think of.
-> Never had a char who was carpenter

I had not used other items when making these objects. It does make sense that this would be required. I have not not been told before and dont know what to use. This is obviously intentional and I quite understand and agree. The fault that I believe should be remedied is that I can waste a heap of wood trying to make them. To any team listening I sugest you make the attempt fail without using any wood. This will demonstyrate that other supplies are required. Perhaps you are keen to add the mistery and have players experimenting with all they can find. This is good in my opinion though simple objects should not be a hardship.
On the subject of rods and harps, thread perhaps seems to fit? I will try again shortly. Thankyou all for your replies and hope to sell your charectors fishing rods and entertainment devices soon enough.
Oh, a final word on the development of skills, or at least final for the moment. I am a weakling. There does does not appear to be a monster that I am capable of facing. I even built a flail to deal with thise skeletons but the first I fought had me nearly super-natural within moments. I have fought the pigs. I was the victor of course but feel this unrealistic. Over the road from my house lives a lot of pigs and I would not start a fight with one of them for love nor money. Have you ever tried to carve pork with the skin still on? I had to sharpen every knife in the house and when they failed even tried a tenon saw. None of these worked so I personally believe pigs to be the toughest substance, let alone animal, the world has ever seen.
Right, I have gone well off the point. My strengh is not (haha) a strong point but my agility is. what i have read sugests this should help a lot in combat. If it does I am not seeing it. Any clues where a nimle, quick if rather bendy lad may get some experience in the rough and tumble without seeing his maker or the makers of his defeated foes. I would not like to be a panzy all my life.
By the way, Im not sugesting the pigs become rock solid, flesh lusting hell hogs. They live in my town, I like them the way they are.

I believe, but am not defenite, that dexterity helps in ranged combat. Perhaps you could get your carpentry skill a bit higher and make yourself a bow and some arrows and then, maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to kill something. However, I would also suggest skeletons to not be your first enemy. There is another creature of the living dead that many young people seem to like to kill.scarecrow wrote:I had not used other items when making these objects. If your char has high dexterity and agility like you say, then he might actually be good at some things. Some day.scarecrow wrote:I would not like to be a panzy all my life.

In German there's a saying:
"Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen."
Roughly translated, it means: "No master has ever fallen from the sky."
