What do you recommend me for being a strong wizard, who wants tho have power over everyone? Intelligence is wery important, or?
Willpower, is it good? What else points is good/ lesser good?

you have good causes of thought, stay with them. my own opinion is, don't neglect the other stats just because you think they are not good for a mage. try to have average or character and job like stats. and give the stats you think which are important (and as i said you have a good starts with your thought) very good points.

A very good question, for the Newbie Board.

Follow this link:

It explains the attibutes.
The rest is common sense.

Darlok: I actually already read they, bur what is inportant. Is Essens and dextery good? I am not going to do much melee-fighting.

Not very smart, and ill tell you why if you use one of your magic spells on some one and they are strong and your magic is not you will almost certainly die unless you run. Give some stats to melee so you at least have a chance.

How does your character look like ?
Distribute the points because of that , not because of what his "job" is going to be.

Is he smart or almost brain dead ?
Is he strong or weak like a leaf in the wind ?
Can his mind adapt the world arround him, or will he never gain insight?

Thats the question you should ask yourself not:

I am big strong mage, what are my attributes ?

Imagine your character, his life, how his life fromed his body and mind.
This will give you the answers.

Darlok: He is strong in mind, but weak in body.
Magic is almost everything in life.
His will is wery strong.

I have some questions: Does perception, agility, dexterity and essence affect spellcasting? Is they good atributes?

let us think logical

perception: well, you ARE throwing fireballs and icebolts. would be good to hit the right target.

Agility: there is no moving when you speak spells. but it would be good for a weak mage to run FAST away when his spells dont' work well. but why should an old mage be agile? or a young mage who lived his whole life behind books?

dexterity: well, would be good to avoid cuts in your finger when you brows through magic books :P. well. the most mages are clumsy. in my opinion *G*

essence: Well, is your mage full of life? or is he just a mage who can cast on others well but is lost when someone cast on him? was he the leader in his childhood? or just the guy who walked around with others 10 feets behind them? you know, the little guy with eyeglasses and which one everyone likes to push around.
Is he someone others look at and are impressed by him or someone everyone oversee and ignores?

a high essence means the good things ;)

Ragor,
I still belive the link I gave you answers all the question.
Nobody will give you answers how the exact game mechanics are.
Shape your attributs after your character, not your profession.

You said your character is clever.
So you know that his mind ablities surpass his physical abilities.
You do know that a value of 10 is averange.

Now just set your attributes as you just said it.

I actualy changed my mind now. I want to be a knight : )
What is good for a knight?

Posted: Wed Jun 30, 2004 1:56 pm
by Darlok
For a Knight ?

Well ... a Sword would be helpful.

In other words:
No matter if you ask for the stats of a wizard or a knight , the answer will be the same.

Shape your attributes after the life/living/past of your character, not only what you want to become.

Now I made my knight. Lord Ragor Steelblade.
Lord is his title. His strenght is 14, an condicion or whatever it is called, 12. The rest is 10. What do you think?

Titles aren't allowed  Sorry...it probably won't be accepted.

titles in the name aren't allowed. in the title field, well, iam not sure

oh, and, you will be a really bad knight. don't await to win often :P

Maybe Ragor should try out his fighting abilities on some mummies. Then the cross isn't that far...

Aren´t titles allowed? Why do the have the titlething? Strange...
Why should I be a bad knight?

Oh, I think Galim want to say that you will be a weak knight in the begining. But if you practice often and if you have the right teachers, than you should grow up to a mighty warrior.

"Oh, I think Galim want to say that you will be a weak knight in the begining. But if you practice often and if you have the right teachers, than you should grow up to a mighty warrior. "

What? I don´t want to be a warrior! :x

Why should the atrbutes be bad? what do you suggest?

If the title is in the title field, then they are allowed. But this titles haven't a sense in game.

But you can use the !prefix and !suffix command to give you titles while you playing. Please don't use them to often, because this is confusing, if somone changes his title every day.

In the name field, by the character creation, should only be the name. No title ore something similar.

I don´t care if the title have some sense, but i thought a knight should have a title. I wanted to have "Knight" as title, but I don´t really know if thats good, so i chosed "Lord". I don´t really know how you take it, but I think "Steelblade" should be a good surname. Steelblade may have a meaning, but I don´t think humans surname don´t can have a meaning.
Can human have that? In reality, human has it. In a fantasyworld, it is even a bigger chancem to find one that have it. So in my option, Ragor Steelblade would fit as a name. (In Dragonlance, some people, like Tasslehoff or Steel, have their firstname and their second name as one or mor words. I am sorry that it is no kenders in this world...)

Don't be a knight or warrior or close range combat types at all. Wait untill wizardry and magiks are available again. Paralyze is the biggest bullshit in the game. You want to get it. Trust me... :?

Kasume: Why shouldn´t I be a knight?
It is sure a good RP character, but maybie bad in Fights.
Knight doesn´t want to fight.

People don't respect your want to RP a knight correctly. That's the problem.

@Athian
It's not my fault you take everything as a direct insult to you... Alora is a good friend of mine and Galim is pretty cool too. Nilo is, eh eh not really friends but I don't mind him. And Veralion I don't even know much. Vera is probably just playing his character really well. :D

anyway...Rping a knight can be pretty hard, one not all will recognize you as i knight even though you play one, another thing is the system of laws the towns in game have, which may effect your own knights 'code' or the way you choose to conduct yourself. EX: fighting in town could get you thrown out regardless of 'honor'. if you really want to do something with a knight like character maybe joining one of the guilds and gaining the title of knight might work for you. it's just a thought of course.

Yes! My name worked! :)

Now I only have to do two things... Now I look at the story... No!
Last time I haved to be a elf, now I am a lizard man!
Why do I always have bad luck in Illarion?

@kasume

dont forget we are darves ;) . for us noone is a danger until he beat us up *gg*. and no, iam pretty sure that i would lose a fight against you. PRETTY sure ^_^. why do you think i don't take kasume ig serious?

oh, and thanks for the cool :D . i love you too ;)

well, its okay to play a knight with that stats. not every knight was a damn good fighter. there are even that ones who will lose fights. or are just foot troops.
