A Call for Entertainers

Post by Cliu Beothach »

I have decided to look for entertainers. Whatever it be post your talent here, or send me a dove. I wish to talk to you.

Alright Ollie...I over looked dancing but it would be great. I still need musicians, or singers, jugglers...anything

Maybe you should search the town for people who over-looked this message. We could meet somewhere and meet! D'you plan on starting a band type of thing?

We shall meet soon...I will stay by the board waiting if you wish to come. I have been searching.

De'am strolls by the cherry tree unhurriedly. With a lute strapped across her back, she pops a cherry in her mouth and passes her amber eyes across the various notes tacked helter-skelter across the town wall. She glances across the overlapping messages struggling against each other for the right to have their own faded ink scrawls seen. Her gaze catches for a moment on a slip of parchment adorned with a carefully calligraphed signature along the bottom edge. She takes a step closer and lifts a corner to read its message as well as the similar ones tacked about it and their replies. De'am leans back and muses for a moment after briefly reading the notes. Finally, she flips over a flap on her bag and pulls out a simple feather quill accompanied by a small ink bottle.

~To the bard Cliu Beothach

~If musicians be what you seek, and musicians be what you lack, I offer to you what musical skills I have that may be worth offering. I play lutes of all sizes, small harps, a number of certain pipes and whistles, and I sing. I have traveled roads over rock and under tree, near and far off the island, and thus doing so have learned songs and tales and ballads of peoples and their lands. If your dove is skillful and inexhaustible enough to search and identify my location, wherever I may wander, please do not hesitate to send word. However perhaps for the health and well-being of your dove, you may simply leave a note here, chances being I will receive your word all in all the same, frustrated dove or not.

~Delakaniam ven Tcimta

De’am leans back and looks at the fresh note. She pulls a knotted cherry stem from her mouth. De’am slips the quill and ink into the bag and exchanges them for a fair-sized bottle from which she takes a hearty swig as she continues along her way.

Around midnight, Phelix passes the town wall and takes a closer look on the message, which is found beneath Cliu's postings. Then he draws his note quickly on the same piece of paper:

Nice calligraphy. This note has to be written by some true aesthete. I hope we will met sooner or later. Maybe you will follow Cliu's congregation too.
Yours sincerely, Phelix Vierwind.

Damien looks through the different notes, raises an eyebrow at this one, and continues reading.

I am glad to see a sudden bump of enthuiasm. I hope to meet you all. I have been playing the lute since I was little, and know how to play others. we must talk with everyone who is interested. I shall hold a meeting tomorrow, the town bar...at mid day (1:00 eastern time, 6:00 gmc, 10:00 pacific)

I probably wont be able to make it to the meeting, but I would like to join as a somewhat experienced harp-player. I hope to meet everyone.

Phelix quickly pins a small note on the wall:

I am looking forward to our gathering. Phelix Vierwind.

Bah, ye be a worthless lot ya. BEER...MALT BEER. That'd be ma talent. But I wouldn't give a hair off me beard for all that sing'n and dance'n. Pretty soon, some elf type'll come 'round and want to impress ya all with that hocus pocus.

Bunzlo looks around quickly to see if any eyes are on him, and feeling secure enough, rips off a piece of paper from one of the other announcements on the board. He scavenges through the dirt for a moment and produces a fat red insect. Putting the bug to the paper and squeezing gently (as gently as his stubby, gnarled fingers will allow) he writes down the information.

Sniffing the bug and wincing as if in pain, he tosses the spent insect into the dirt, crumples the paper up in his hand, looks quickly again for eyes on him, and then ambles off quickly.
