The guide is useless. These new players don't even read it. I'd like to shoot myself in the damn foot.

Im not worried about it. I like them, none of them are being obnoxious or rude. They simply don't know better. And to be honest, I sure as heck wouldn't read that long list of rules and guidelines for a free online game, I would like them, assume I could figure it out on my own.

That's not the point. It's there to help guide and it is REALLY useful. I just wish people weren't so lazy. It would make a lot of the things I try to explain easier to understand. "How do you RP?" has always been a difficult question for me to answer.

I hate it that Illarion's expanding; sometimes I spend a few hours teaching yet another noob a day, then a week later I realise they're never coming back. It's frankly very annoying. I know it's a good thing really that we're getting more players, it just ticks me off sometimes when noobs come and disturb rp, but don't worry I'll carry on teaching them...

It's called Anime Freak. ANIME. >.>

We should just cut the game off to new accounts and have it all to ourselves.

how about make the people read the name rules when they click on make a new character, maybe that will put a stick in the gears of bad names.

no, people will still just scroll to the bottom quickly and accept, like people do for license agreements

I've actually seen alot of newbies that are great rpers, Aurora for example. You just need to give them a chance, and if they have a wierd name just say (( delete this char and make a new one with a more medieval like name. Names like this aren't allowed. )) I've helped a few new people and ended up rping with them alot, and most of them aren't bad at it.

I still think the best thing to do is to jsut go back to the old way...i know it is tougher and takes longer and all that but it really sorts out the rp'ers and the runescapers...or make newbie island.

People will NEVER read the rules if its not important to them...

Every time I make a new account in somewhere, i NEVER read the rules, or the help files; until I start playing... this is something everyone does, not just me.

The only time when I actually scrolled and read ALL of the rules, was when there was a test to be done et cetera.. in order to qualify; just lyke the old system i mean.. it shows that the group is SERIOUS about its rules, not letting everyone and their cousin in...

Even if you do somethign totally stupid, lyke an account system, whcih automatically answers YES after 1 hour or something, without bothering to check the answers ... THAT WOULD work...

My two cents...

Clever. They think it matters. But the runescapers will still try anyway. I read the illarion runes cos I was on my own in the apartment in Brazil and had just found it and had nothing better to do, like with on the new client manual. I couldn't run it so I read the manual ;)

Newbie island sounds good. You could even hire people to go over there and teach noobs; I'd apply.

I dont you should go back to the old account system. I am one of thoses people that came through the free account, but my orc has appered in the whos RP did you like thread too before, I have also had some bad RP pointed out to me as well. Im sure it was no different then before with the account system, In fact the only thing that it did do was make sure that people would make good character names. Playing this game and RP is a learning experance, it take time. If you just also point out why some noobie RP is bad, Im sure most of them will adust or leave if they dont like it.

I have not read of one case on the forum that they need to ban one noobie for just not wanting to RP IG. So what if a noobie comes up talking to in leet chat, just tell them that is unacceptable in this game, I know I have told at least 2 noobies that I have meet and they stop doing using that kinda slang IG.

Yes but the noobs weren't as bad back then because they'd read the rules and knew the general jist of it. They only needed a couple of pointers like what type of rp is bad and good, not a full education.

A lot of people said that same exact thing after you first started playing, saying that the account system isn't good enough and why do we have to get new people if they're like that!? But you know what? You've had like a dozen second chances (if not more) so you're one to talk. We now give everyone a shot. We want to grow - not shrink - the community.

Now lets all play nice. You may see a few crummy names from people logging in for the first time, but instead of pissing and moaning about it just know that the GMs and devs keep their watchful eyes on the player list and even when you see the names that don't follow the rules they're most likely already being taken care of while you're developing your complaint.

Exactly to what Quinasa wrote. People just need time and patience to learn this game. I myself pwned 2 new players last night into playing this game. I am quite proud of them :)

Heh. Good job on figuring that out Quin. :)

T'was a joke, I believe.

I've tutored countless newbies myself. I just kill the ones that attack me and obviously have no interest in learning the game.

I'm not smart. That's why it took me so long to figure this game out. I've been told all my life I was smart and it was really a shocker to me to find out what an emotional douche I am. I figured out that with the help of many many people explaining it to me on a regular basis.

Meh, I've said too much. Time to crawl back into the game.

I just disallow noobs attacking me and tell them it's against the rules.

The nicest thing about teaching noobs is that you know the GMs are grateful:

William Elderberry: [GM] Thank you for helping the newbie. :)

William Elderberry: (Keikan) Thanks for your information, and many thanks for finding a solution yourself :)

It leaves a nice feeling that lets you know that someone actually cares.

Are we allowed to have frodos now or is this against the rules?
