That's why he said bad day, Liles. Even if it was a 99% chance, there'd still be a chance, however small, that you could only succeed 1 time out of 7.

I am at around 25% +- smithing skill and i can comfirm for a novice skill the sucess rate and quality is more than acceptable.
I have only failed around 4 out of 40 ingots and takes around +- 3 ingots to smith a helm.
I do how ever have a good dex,
A system cannot be judged by one character when it has so many variables, if you consistantly find the system extremely harsh mention it here if many people have a problem it will be apparent to the Devs a change is required

wasn't there something on liles having low dexterity so that's why he failed rings alot? I have very high dexterity and I lose 1 out of four rings. so could it be liles dextarity being the problem?

Rate of success=formula depending on skill, attributes and difficulty of the desired product

Rate of success (Liles, emerald ring)=48%

i think its ok that ingots sometimes fail but its the same with cutting cherry tree branches, have you tried cutting a branch in real life? its easy forvery young people so i dont think cutting branches should fail.

This topic is about smithing. And by cutting a branch from a tree, you don't lose anything, only a tiny amount of time.

Still you can acidentaly break the branch or something...

And to quote something the GM's have told us (and thereby me in particular ^^) alot of times. This game is not real life, its another world, things are differant.

Don't whine about it. As the devs would say, shut up, you're wrong.
