Don't mean to be rude here, but what you need to do when you start is the manual. It tells you about where to go to mine and things like that, and how to make a leather bag to hold more items

I have read all of your comments, and since I just had my account activated and have been in game for about one hour, I can tell you all with all honesty and sincerity, that it is hard starting out.

And as far as asking someone for assistance? Rubbish.

There was 1 person playing while I was on. Now, I'm sorry to burst your bubbles, but uhm, how in the world am I supposed to ask the ONE person playing for assistance? I barely know how to move. How do I find this ONE person.

To make matters worse, everything I try to do gives me the response that I'm too exhausted to do it. I don't even know how to get un-exhausted, or if I even can. I'm a dwarf, and I chose my stats wisely, or so I thought. There is absolutely no reason for an unencumbered dwarf to be exhausted the first moment he appears in this world. And since I don't know how to do anything, I certainly couldn't have worn myself out by carrying around a shovel.

Anyway, my point is that after an hour, I have accomplished absolutely nothing, there are no people in game to ask for help, and I'm pretty frustrated to have waited all this time for my account to be activated, and I can't even dig a hole in the dirt.

It IS hard when you are starting out. Don't tell me otherwise.

I am sorry that your first experience with Illarion was not the way you expected it to be.

Actually you speak the truth. If there is only one other character online it will be very hard for you to find this person. Therefore it would be very good if you would play in the German evening hours as there will be around 10-15 characters playing (presuming weekends). If you actually find someone in game, in most cases they will help you. In your case I would try to find a fellow dwarf.

On the other hand it is still good in my perspective that you are alone the first time you enter the game, as you can get used to the controls and the possibilities of the client. There is also a small handbook if you follow this link: http://illarion.org/illarion/handbook/us_hb-02.php

Just to clarify, the reason why you are exhausted is that you haven't eaten anything. If you are working in Illarion without any food in your digital stomach, you will get tired very quickly. Apples are easy to find, just pluck them from a willing tree.

I'm sure that I came across as being a whiner to some, and for that, I'm sorry. My only real frustration in game was that I was immediately exhausted and had no idea how to remedy that.

I did read the manual, a few times in fact, and at the risk of sounding confrontational, it doesn't mention eating apples. Without your helpful tip, I would never have found out. Well, I shouldn't say never.

And my frustration on this thread was mainly the previous multiple comments made about simply asking someone, when that doesn't hold true in my case. Unfortunately, I may have some difficulty playing during peak hours. This will severely hinder my rp AND my potential for assistance.

But as you said, it can also be a positive, as I'm so clumsy with the interface right now. Becomming proficient with the interface and simple tasks will help me rp, as well as give me informed questions to ask. At this point, I actually have very few informed questions, and need to get used to the new world that has been placed under my feet.

Maybe a starter town would be of benefit. A place where you don't have to fully rp and just feel out the games and if you ask something ooc, it's accepted. Frankly, Bunzlo is not the most pleasant of people, unless he's in a bar, drinking. He will not ask for help. Asking help is for humans and those wretched orcs, for the humans are greedy and the orcs, stupid. Dwarves, on the other hand, well...let's just leave that for the RP forum.

I am sure, if you ask someone ingame, if he can help you with the game controls, he will do it.
Mark your sentence/question as an ooc-sentence by using double brackets, or much better, by wispering it (so that only the person next to you can hear you) with double brackets.
And before you have to ask, I explain wispering. Use the command: #w.
For example to ask an ooc-question, type:
#w ((May you help me with the game controls, seems a bit confusing to me?))

Also you can see the important commands ingame by using the keys F1 - F5.

It's not particularly 'hard' to start out, it just takes a while to get on your feet. You can't always guarantee that there will be lots of people online when you first start, and if there are only 1 or 2 then it's a spot of bother. You could spend the time waiting for people by exploring the town (don't venture out too far because it can be dangerous.) If you've explored town as much as you like then perhaps read a few books in the library, they'll tell you a thing or two about history and the know-how of certain easy crafts, and maybe a good hint at the harder stuff.

Just make sure to return your books or the librarian (I think it's Damien) won't be impressed

When I open my eyes I feel strange in that new world I was driven in. Let me see: I am carrying a hammer and a shovel, nothing more then a pant on my skin, I feel lonesome for nobody's around.

What can I do? I am in a kind of church, leaving the room shows me I am in a library. Reading books might be a good idea to start, hints might help me on my way.

I've got a hammer and a shovel, but every try to dig a hole outside in the grass seems to be useless. I walk around. Find some appletrees, cherrytrees, some grapes too. The fruits I picked up taste good, make me feel better for my exhaution vanishes away.

Behind a building I find some pigs. Maybe I should try to kill one of them with nothing than my coldblood hands? Better than this, I will try to pick up some more fruits and carry them back to town, waiting for some people to sell them. With the little money I can try to buy a dagger, some shoes and a shirt, so I will no longer look like a beggar. I would love to be a hero, a warrior, mage or druid, but maybe I should start with learning how to survive. Should find friends. Should be patient.
