Saying that it is the fault of the Illarion server and the people who work with it and pay for it is like saying that it is the fault of the jail that your wallet was stolen...

I don't think anyone is blaming the server. They are blaming the person who posted the link.

This is sort of like "He told me to jump off a bridge, so I did..."

No, this is like "He told me walk forward on a foggy day, and i didn't know the edge of the bridge was in front of me"

And... it would be the person's fault who walked off the bridge because they did not have to walk forward, backward or to either side...

...So they just sit there and hope that they made the right decision. Your view is slanted as it is not happening to you.

Just because Paul was tricked into something doesn't change anything.
The other person should never have posted that link on this server.

I still don't understand it! Paul received a mail with this link from another person. Then Paul posted the mail in this thread. So the only time when the link appears on this server is where Paul (or a person using his account) posted it here! No other person posting it is involved.

I don't think it was an email but a pm. Don't the same rules apply to pms as apply to the public forum?

A little story:

A smart man with the name Paul is jogging in the wood.
After a while he runs in a trap.
Ouch He yelled Someone hat put a trap in the wood it must have done the owner of the wood!

He starts to make the trap allready ready and hide it. After he had finnished his work, he search a few boys and sayed to them: I have found a trap, the trap is on that way
The boys are inquisitiv and they walk into the............ END OPEN

*laughs* Thats a funny story. But i think it relates more to this:

A smart man named Paul was stuck on a bridge during heavy fog. A man told him that to get off the bridge, he must walk forward, knowing Paul would fall off. He walks forward and falls off the bridge. He is badly injured, and calls to some boys, telling them not to go off the edge of the bridge, because they will fall off too. He then says that the owners of the bridge have some responsibilty because they did not ensure the safety of the bridge, but not entire responsibility, or not as much as the man who told Paul to walk forward.

Again I say, no one is blaming the server (the owner of the wood) we are blaming the person that set the trap.

In our case ensuring the security would mean, that we either
- hire a few people, that read every posting and every PRIVATE message and approve it before sending.
- close down the server

another good story..

One day someone gets banned from a game, another person see's how grumpy this person is and decides to send him a totaly harmless webpage via PM. The grumpy person, being grumpy, gets annoyed that he fell for it and tries to get the other person in trouble. He decides to start a debate(?) about it being a 'cyber attack' which ended up going no where.

what good came out of starting this topic? :roll:
what did you want to happen by starting this topic? :roll:

virdigan why did you think it was funny to send a person who was having a bad day a pm taht you knew would mess his computer around. Granted you did not know how bad it owuld effect his computer because you didn't know what kind he had. But Virdigan, you shouldn't be banned since this has nothing to do with the game, but should apologize to Paul.

has it been mentioned that one must have the brain of a gold fish to even open a link with such an url...?

In this case, I would tend to preffer this story:

A smart man - paul - was approached by another person who tells him that shooting himself in the head with a gun is really fun, and hands paul a gun. Paul takes the gun, and blows his brains out...

How can you even think of putting the tiniest hint of blame on Vin, when it is so completely obvious that that link did not lead to a mmorpg page...?!

Who knows what links lead to anymore. www.theonion.com is a parody news site. Who would guess?

@Bumbol Woodstock
Because i have a different sence of humour to you.
And i wont apologize because i did no harm to his computer

@mishrack
That short story sums this 'incident' up quite well :D

@paul laffing
I havnt clicked that link because I dont think its very convincing :lol:
