I saw this late, here's a quick perspective:

When I was first here, a night/day cycle wasn't even thought about, it was automatically written off as not-going-to-happen or was very far off. Being able to build private homes was out of the question. Heck, even starting a town outside of what Troll's Bane and Silverbrand did was nearly impossible. The fighting system consisted of needing a shield or two to be invincible, and getting killed in one hit otherwise. Nobody thought of weather outside of the occasional in-game broadcast with text describing things before a quest, because it wasn't deemed possible. All items lasted forever and had no quality. There were only six playable races. You could walk across the map in about ten minutes.

I could say more but I'm too tired and will leave it there, and let someone think about it if they need to.

So, I guess it's been a while since I've really gotten into this game since my schedule simply doesn't allow it -- I have a lot of cartoons to watch, children to feed, people to slap, buildings to set fire on and rioting to do at the local pet store every other Wednesday since the animals aren't being fed...according to the word on the streets...

But my thoughts regarding the game concept and everything in general, just from what I've seen and everything since logging in with one of my other chars just recently: The development has for sure, come a long way at this point and I think there will always be people who don't like this and don't like that...blah, blah, blah...and it's obvious to see how it could get to you. In fact, I recall a time where martin said something along the lines of, "How would you feel if you go through tons of code and spend a lot of your time rendering all these graphics and making things better, etc. only to be told that the 'game sucks now' and so on?"

I'd have to say if I were in the same shoes, I'd probably want to quit and work as a part-time janitor at Harvard or something like that in an attempt to learn a bunch of knowledge and become the next Will in Good Will Hunting too.

Anyway, the only main point of this post that I want to sorta share with people is something that's been said over the years every so often when people are feeling blue or breaking their $654 laptop because the Illara music wouldn't play in Trollsbane...

Illarion is and will always be just a game.

If you really don't like the changes to the point to where you're going to travel all the way to where the server is located just so you can point and laugh at it, just don't play. Be an annoying forum rat or visit the mIRC channel from time to time...if you want, you could hit me up on MSN some time and we can maybe meet in real life...drink some tea and pick up some hookers?

Just my three cents and a dime.
Wurd.

PO of Korr
PS - I was kidding about the hookers thing, disregard that please.
