As someone whose character was "taken" early on, I had no problem with it. I thought it worked great IG, because Jalen left the safety of the group to go and scout the area for any wanderers. As it turned out, he became the wanderer and got ambushed. He actually turned a corner and ran right smack into them! They didn't really give me any options about mummification or the cult or anything, but the GM gave me the choice to return to Trolls Bane so long as I played up the "weakness" that came from the ritual. I enjoyed the experience and thought it gave me some great RP to work off of.
