Let's think of it this way...most of the teachers of the academy are either a GM or a dev
I disagree.
More teachers make no use so long (as i say) the novices doesnt get more activ.
Agreed. I have asked to the novices (European ones anyhow), what time could be best. I have suggested a time, all that replied so far have agreed. I am open to private lessons, even outside my normal times (already have 2 people scheduled). If you feel you cannot make it to a lesson, TRY to arrange a private lesson. It is quite possible.
personally i like the way things are, the academy in my eyes is far to much to ask of six or seven people, who all have actual lives to attend to. most schools you know have at least a few dozen teachers, but in our case we dont have this number, so things move very slowly. thats why i suggested few classes fewer lessons.
I will be doing a class a week, and might do one more even if the novices feel up to it. I do believe, as Djironnyma already said, that lately the novices are slacking a bit, and not the magisters or archmages. Not that I blame you ofcourse.
This is not a flame, or flamz0rz! The lessons I've gone to, most notably Damien's, are related directly to magic, and provide neccesary background to the magic system.
Very good Korwin. I might add, that even Creature Lore is handy, for there are also creature summoning spells. You must first know what you summon or not? And I must say that my first philosophy lesson went quite well, and I tried to encourage players (and characters ofcourse), to think about the reason behind the magic they are vying to acquire. In a sort of free-form discussion.
Were there more teachers to cover more time slots for lessons, I would support the magic academy. As it stands, a combination of heavy devotion and/or lack of things to do (like having a full time job, or a strong social life) or considerable luck are the only two factors that allow one to make each lesson. The length of time it takes to "make a mage" is far too long, which ties in with those two factors.
Bare with me, I am trying to do the European side to my full extent sir Cain. And as I said before, private lessons are also an option, also for you.
Yes, Cain used to be a mage. Not too bad, its bullshit plain and simple. This game is actually Alpha, according to the little pop-up window before you log into Illarion. Razz Yes, the game has changed, but why should our characters be forced to? Our characters are our characters, no one else's and nothing more or less.
And I say this to everyone: Never ever dare to step outside your character's role just to acquire magic. Ofcourse there will be other ways to learn magic. It might just take a while before this happens.
EDIT
Philosophy is not a filler class. Atleast, I hope it is not portrayed as such. Maybe in Djironnyma's way it was, but I do hope the way I do it makes POs think more about why magic is there, and think more about how their character's view on magic is.
